After Startup load screen only black screen
I just got this game and after the initial loading going from 0 - 100 It just goes to a complete black box. I have tried everything I could think of. I even reinstalled the game on my ssd and it is still happening. If anyone knows any fix please let me know because I would love to play this game.

Hey man, really sorry to hear you're having issues launching the game. Hopefully we can figure out what's going on here! Just so I can test; Which headset are you on? and are you launching the game with SteamVR or OculusVR when you first press play? Also, the screen it's trying to load you into is the "speech recognition" scene, it asks if you want to use Cortana voice recognition in the game or not. I was wondering if you have Cortana enabled or not? (It shouldn't matter but it might help figure out what's going on) Also which version of windows 10 are you on? Thanks and sorry again, Blake

Also I do not even get to that part of the game to press play. It boots up the game giving a green auroa graphic then a loading 0-100 then black screen.

Okay thanks for the info, it could be something with your anti-virus trying to stop the voice recognition. Could you try disabling it before starting the game? Also, on your desktop if you press the cortana speech button on the bottom left, does it work fine for you? Let me know, thanks, Blake

I don't have a third party anti-virus and I turned windows virus protection off, but the problem still exists.
Cortana works fine on my pc.

I'm going to need a bit of time to look into this. We're going to release a new update with more levels in the next few weeks and it has a different loading system included as well. I am having the very same issue, once the loading screen hits 100% the screen goes black, task manager reports the game .exe is using the CPU, GPU and memory.

Headset - Lenovo Explorer
Game Version - Steam VR
Windows v1909

I dug out my old Oculus DK2 and it loaded fine, although unplayable due to the DK2 not having tracked motion controllers.

I have tried all the suggestions and even tried older Nvidia drivers and reinstalling Windows.

Hi AnarkistUK, I'm really sorry about this issue, one thing I have found is that the screen sometimes becomes un-selected after loading, just clicking on the screen seems to load the next scene. Also, if you go to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\VitruviusVR\ is there a "ShadowLegendVR" folder? If so can you delete it and try loading the game again? Sorry again, Blake

I have now tried deleting the "ShadowLegendVR" folder as suggested and clicked on the screen, a lot. still no luck after hitting 100%.

an additional piece of info: the "Loading ... %" section of the intro only shows on the compositor window on screen and not in the headset. the head set displays the opening "Vitruvius" logo animation and a pair of, controllable, hands. then the headset screen goes blank but the monitor screen shows the "Loading ... %" section of the intro before it too goes blank.

Hmm okay that is odd, when you launch the game you have the choice of "SteamVR" Or "OculusVR" mode, if SteamVR is chosen the loading screen in the headset should show your Steam Loading area when the game is loading. I'll have to do some more research based on this. issue.

yes, my apologies, the headset shows the Steam Loading area with a floating "Shadow Legend" Icon whilst the monitor shows the "loading … %" screen. when 100% is reached both go black.

I've got the same problem as well...it just turns black and nothing else happens...

We just got this game and have the exact same issue, it loaded the first time and then every time after that it starts to load and then goes to a black screen. The headset is a HP Reverb on an AMD Ryzen 3600x, 16gb of memory and an Nvidia 2070 Super. Is there a fix for this issue? I have tried everything listed above with no success.
