Do not buy this game.

It doesn't fix a SINGLE issue from the old beat em up formula while adding TONS of new problems that make this nothing but an exercise in frustration instead of a fun way to blow up steam. Its hard lining up for hits, 90% of the modes are locked behind story mode completion, story mode itself is a half baked mess with the cheapest tactics designed to whittle away your lives instead of being challenging, and the controls are needlessly difficult (I.E. You have to be standing stock still to pick something up while holding a weapon, otherwise you'll throw the weapon and risk losing it). Most of the characters cant even RUN and the enemies are faster than you, just about everyone can perform unblockable, uninterruptible attacks while you fruitlessly beat on them, your special drains your health whether you hit the enemy or not, and that is only a FEW of the issues presented here!!

Why do things like modernize the control scheme, have a counter system, or change up the gameplay with something like a part where you're on a motorcycle? Instead lets just have each level be a long slog beating on the same 5-6 enemies regardless of the level (Why would there be fat biker chicks and 'gangstas' at a castle?? They couldn't have at LEAST made a new enemy skin??) Any fun you're having is at the mercy of the controls and enemy placement, which can greatly change at the drop of a hat. I.E. Right before the final boss, lets have 8 of the most frustrating enemies bum rush you, just to take at least 2 of your lives away. It's like the developers thought this was good game design but anyone can tell you this is CHEAP and FRUSTRATING and this happens CONSTANTLY.

It says alot when Batman Returns is a far better beat em up experience. These people will never have me as a customer again and this game did nothing but steal me money. DO NOT make my mistake and buy this game.

DO NOT be suckered in by how bright and colorful it looks and/or nostalgia! This is a half baked, frustrating mess that just wants you to be as miserable as possible while playing it.

DO NOT GET THIS GAME. GET THE FREE FAN MADE SEQUEL IF YOU WANT TO PLAY SOR. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!!

A work of love that will take you back to the nostalgic arcade days of the 80s / 90s. Gameplay, art, and music are all exceptional.

It's kinda like Doom Eternal and Resident evil 4 in a sense that all of it mechanics have purposes

Streets of Rage deserved more. This sequel did my first beat em up game ever dirty. Some fan made works are better than this.

I'm still giving it a thumbs up recommended because this was perfectly fine, played well and I finished it with all available characters. Fun beat em up over all but still; Streets of Rage deserved better...

It's fun. I admit that. Takes about 2 hours to clear a game.
Love the art. Music is nice.
However; where is the the block/parry/dodge/dash/sprint/roll button? lol ANYTHING for a defensive or evasive tactic.

Soundtrack and gameplay is top tier.

Was waiting years to play what i enjoyed the most in the megadrive era. Its great ! Not perfect since it has a feeling that the storyline is short as far stages are concerned...
I also have a feeling that highest scores are made with somewhat "help"...
Either way its a great game for solo as well company like when we were kids :-)
