Really, no post ending gameplay?
Well I guess the title is pretty self explanatory. How can this game have NO playing after finishing it? I played on old game minus for the achievement and thought "I'm gonna get the ending and then go after the dlc, that way if i end up dying too many times i won't have to do it all gain" and guess what, the game sent me to the main menu and deleted my save, it didn't even let me load to a save before ending the game. I'm down to play the game again since i have to get co-op achievement and apparently, start again to hop on the dlc. At the end it felt like my grinding was all for nothing since i don't even get to see a file that said "Completion: 100%". I guess it would've been nice to get a warning message about it, that i won't be able to play on the save again if I proceeded.

That's how Old Game Minus works. You can keep playing in the Normal mode to collect achievements.

Yeaah i noticed that after finishing in normal mode to get achievements, it sucks the game doesn't give you any warning about it before completing the last mission
Deleting a customers savegame is an absolut impudence!

I was lucky then I guess: I tried to fly home before I finished the game and there was no warning, just an animation and then I flew home. Then I went back to the main menu and was able to load my last savegame.

If these bastards really delete savegames unpromptedly, then will do a manual backup as soon I know where it is saved. Thank you for the warning.

One question thought: What do you mean with that you finished the game? Did you solve all sidequests, just every open quest, and that was triggering the deletion of your savegame?

To be fair as anothe player stated it was apparently just an "old game minus" feature, that mode with a time counter and a life system. But to explain myself better, i did 100% the main game, i scanned everything and completed all quests, that includes collectibles and stuff since that is a quest itself, then i launched the javelin to get rid of that one quest and after flying back home it sent me to the main menu and my save was no there. If this is a feature of that gamemode it should be stated (which is not). As of my other save, that one was in normal mode and i had no trouble when lauching the javelin BEFORE doing everything, i did not launch it at the end in case it deleted my save but you should be good, it still counts as completed even if it says to launch the javelin and go home.

Thank you for explaining. Starting the Javelin when every quest is done will delete the savegame.

I never heared the expression "old game minus feature". How did you start that mode? What is a "life system"?

"old game minus" is a mode you can choose when creating a new savefile. Its only difference is that you have a timer, which really only tracks the time you have spent in that save but has no other function, the life system is just limited lifes, which start at 3 but you can get 1 in each biome by looking around. If you use all you lifes then your game deletes and you have to start again.

This is interesting because I totally missed that option, can't remember to have seen that.

Thank you for your in-depth explanation
I just found this in the forum, explains a lot:

Did you a favor and looked it up. Here is the description according to the game's website:

"Old Game Minus: replay the game with limited lives (3) and a timer. Save data is deleted when the mode is completed or failed. Playing co-op? The pair of you get to share a massive pool of lives (still 3)"

"OLD GAME MINUS
WELCOME!

You have 3 lives to lose before the game ends in sadness and failure!
If you play with a partner, you share lives!
Each biome hides a bonus life, if you can find it.
It's all about life, basically. And speed.
Defeat Teratomo, find enough feul and relaunch your ship to complete the challenge.
Good luck. "

*Side note: There are actually 2x achievements on OGM: One single player and one entirely done with a coop partner.
