Janky gameplay with the roguelike genre is imho not a good combo.

I don't know why I love this game but I do. The controls are horrible but somehow, that's what makes it fun. Definitely a unique entry into the roguelite genre. I got really far with one dude that started out already a badass, lost to an elite and thought for sure I'd put it down right there. Nope, immediately started a new run.

The absolute worst thing you could do to a game this janky is make it a roguelite that resets on death. Between crashes bugs and dying to animations more janky than chivalry 1 resetting a run is the worst.
This is only tolerable by the fact that you can make a backup save folder like in project zomboid to save your runs and characters.
Some of the larger 2 handed weapons like a large 2 handed spear has no attack from a swing left, so it just shoves gently constricting what you can do with that weapon. God save you if thats all you have against a enemy with a large shield. The AI in group battles have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ targeting. Throwing weapons is complete aids and unreliable. Ive selected a certain match only to load in and fight in a different match i didnt select. Ive crashed halfway through a match, had to ctrl alt del and restart the game, just to have the match become something different. After I completed my 2nd run i was rerolling to get a new character that wasnt complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and didnt realise i had only 3 rerolls until i lost my heirloom item.

The concept of this game is solid but is so janky and buggy its more of a pain in the ass to play.
I would like to see a more well made game like this based on something like Battle Brothers with a progressional campaign. Arena fights are fine for a bit but this gameplay loop when things go well gets old quick.

Boring

Pokud jste někdy měli někdy touhu vyzkoušet si být na jeden den gladiátorem, tak tato hra je jako dělaná pro vás. Je celkem dost a tím myslím doopravdy DOST repetetivní, ale přesto vám to nedá a dáte si ještě to "jedno poslední" kolo. Hra je doopravdy zábavná a návyková. Doufám, že do budoucna přibudou další aktivity spojené se životem gladiátora (například nějaké investice do intrik, vylepšování své kóje, případně sbírání trofejí). Tak či onak hra je v předbězném přístupu a i tak má mnoho hodin zábavy připravené jen pro vás. Prozatím Hodnotím 7/10, právě kvůli repetetivnosti.

This game is fantastic and the only complaints I've seen in the review section that isn't the one "its boring" are just skill issue problems. First and foremost, two contradicting complaints I've seen were that combat is too light and that combat is too slow. Both of these issues come down to technique and nothing else, as the weight of your swing depends on your timing and mouse movement. The fact that those are completely opposite gripes with the combat is further evidence that is a skill issue. Another one I saw was that spears are completely useless because they have a arching motion when swung as a slash attack. That part of the spear is specifically NEEDED in order to get around enemy shields. It certainly feels odd when you first pick one up, but they are DEADLY when you learn them well. Lastly there was a complaint that there are too many shields. Assuming their complaint was that too many opponents carry them, there are a plethora of ways to get around, or destroy the enemies shield. Flails and spears work wonders at going around, cleaving weapons for breaking them.
This game is a 10 out of 10 for me and aside from the odd buggy rag-doll effect it seems the game works perfect. I would totally recommend this to anyone who's looking for something fun to sink some time into. Perfect for cooling my jets after getting wiped in Chiv or Mordhau by a bunch of sweats.

Incredible gladiator game with wonderful artstyle , enjoyable physics with a made up but still reminiscent historical setting.

It's a wonder why there aren't more video games like this. I remember in past console gens there was at least a few gladiator combat/management games, they were always a blast. This one captures the spirit of that sort of game almost perfectly, I feel. Combat takes some getting used to, I can understand if that makes some folks dislike this game. But if you can get the hang of it, and you start ripping through enemy because you've became a God of Combat on the sands of the arena, and you've got enough money and influence to start building your OWN damn Coloseum, there's no better feeling. And before you get bored of being on top, you can retire your current gladiator (each comes with his own goal to be reached in his time as a gladiator that you can complete) and start up a new one, with roguelite carry overs to make your next run a little easier. All that being said though, don't be surprised if your guy dies on the sands, either early on in the filthy ditches that the early fights happen in, or the gilded marble arenas that the best combatants find themselves in eventually. There's no second chances, no surrendering and no mercy, but with the blood spraying and the limbs falling off of all the enemies you'll be taking down, it's only fair. AND keep in mind, the game's not even done yet! I'm happy with spending my money on this game, I feel it's already worth it. All the rest is icing on the cake.
