You are using windows 7 aren't you? Unless you install the windows 7 platform update below which allows windows 7 to use features of DX11.1, no amount of modifying the graphic settings will allow you to play the game or demo

I'm running Windows 10 1809 and I've tried most of the options provided in the official troubleshooting page from the developer [1][2] and tried to install the Windows Media codecs update:

Certain cutscene segments use video playback which relies on Windows' default Media Player codec.

However the update is not applicable since its only for the N and KN editions and I have the home version installed and up to date.

I'm looking forward to modify re2_config.ini with the sole purpose of running the game on my choppy laptop with its aging AMD A6-4400M APU with Radeon HD 7520G graphics with an impressively (low) ammount of vRAM (512 MB)

I've seen videos and reviews where they cut down the graphics too much that it seems like the original PS version of Resident Evil 2.

That low amount of vRAM is likely to be the culprit then :-/, the minimum requirements require at minimum 2 gb.


You could check to ensure that you have the relevant runtimes installed, but it's very likely that your problem is vram

I wonder if people actually read the minimum requirements on the games store page for RE 2: Remake and the demo.

However, at least more gamers are trying out the demo and the full game.
Sadly the demo can't be downloaded now though, they should have left the demo on the store page for download, so that others could try it out.

I'm sorry to say that your card is simply too old for this game. The game requires a graphics card with support for DirectX 11.1 feature set (and higher), your card unfortunately only has support for DX11.0

(actually the OP's card only has support for 11.0 too, so even if his laptop was able to increase the amount of shared memory in someway, it still wouldn't work)
