Game crashes on startup

Just bought this here on Steam to have it in my Steam library in addition to my copy on Ubisoft Connect, uninstalled the Ubisoft Connect version, did a fresh install of the Steam version, and it crashes during the game launch sequence. No error message. Does not crash when I launch the version I bought on Ubisoft Connect. Disabling Virtualization in BIOS did not help, still crashes. Adding InstallDir string value with the Steam game install location to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ubisoft\Starlink did not help, still crashes. Adding -fullscreen or -windowed to the launch options does not help, still crashes. Disabling the Steam overlay does not help, still crashes.

Once in a great while (very randomly) it will launch but mostly it just crashes right before the Ubisoft logo.

Guess I'll just refund the Steam version.

Windows 11 Pro 23H2
i7-13700K
32GB RAM
RTX 4090 (driver version 546.33)
3840x1600, 144Hz

Game doesn't work on Windows 11 unless you disable all kinds of virtualization and some security features. And even then it might not work. It will not be fixed.

I have no issue launching the steam version on my laptop, with vm on, but as soon as i try on desktop, it wont launch, and vm is disabled

Same for me. I don't have VM, it throws the prompt and auto closes every time. I play Ubisoft Connect version on Windows 10 and Steam version on Steam Deck.

Very weird, because I enjoy this game a lot. I have every console version and jump into my saves on different platforms every so often just to see what I was doing last.

I also get that there's no money in it, so it's abandoned. I'm sure Ubisoft got a sweet deal for Denuvo, but I find it funny that it's still there so many years later, meanwhile the game is so very broken on Windows entirely.
