Do the frequent cut scenes interfere too much with your game play?
I have played (I think) all of the other Atelier games on Steam (except the city builder one). At some point I had purchased a bundle and totally forgot about this game until I was going through my library for unplayed games. So I installed it and started playing it yesterday. This is the only one of the games where I have found the cut scenes interfere too much with the game play.

I am wondering what other people think? Normally I enjoy the cut scenes, but they happen so frequently in this game that I have started interruption the voice acting and just reading the word quickly.

Is this what is known as a "Visual Novel?" I have not played any of the games marked as "Visual Novel" because I am an avid reader of old-fashioned books.

Sorta. I've not found the cut scenes to be a huge deal since most are short enough.

As for the visual novel aspect, most titles end up with that tag due to the style of the cutscenes more so then just having cut scenes.

They tend to have a lot of text to read, and character sprites/portraits to repersent the characters talking, instead of text bubbles or what the Mysterious games do. They involve a fair bit of reading.

Of the 13 hours I currently have though I would say only 4-5 hours of it has been reading so far, which really isn't bad.
