Blood in the sand (side quest)
Is there any real ending to this quest? Could we know the truth?
Thanks !

yeah i always wonder if i pick the right person...to me it seem like there was 3rd party involved in the situation. egging on those 2 to do something stupid. to me i felt like they were both quitly but there was no option for that.

I didn't complete this quest because the evidence was all very vague. There wasn't enough information to go on to make any decision.

It's intentionally vague.

The choice is: The guy who has a good reputation but all the evidence pointing at him OR the lady who runs a loan sharking business and been known to kill in the past and has the means to facilitate a set-up.

Yep i know that I reloaded. But the guy seems honnest, and had no reason to kill the companion. The woman on the other part seems too shady but it's true that dead people don't pay their debts back :/

if his companion had walk in while or after he done the act then he probably would of finish her off too to cover his tracks maybe? or debt lady goons could of over beaten him by accident and she order knifing to cover up the fact?

And lost his dagger after that ? :p
He doesn't seem the great mastermind, and even follow you to the jail. He should have left the city :/
But clearly there is a third party there ^^

He was clearly a noble from Ark, referencing sending the Ark guard after the Duneville Watchdogs (lawl.)

The brother may have stolen the jewelry or possibly owed this noble for it... that much is never really explained. The nobleman knew where to find him, at least. Which alludes to an agreement.

Personally, I like this quest. It represents a moral gray area and the fact that many times justice isn't just blind--it's clueless. Sometimes, crime does pay.

I think I will borrow the word of the dead with me on my adventures and find proofs where they are x)

Personally, I picked the loan shark. Why? Because the murders looked like they had been done quite quickly, with skill - throats slashed and no fighting. And I found it unlikely that a man outraged by betrayal, who was unlikely to have such skills with weapons, would be able to do that. A loan shark, who has killed in the past, though? Definitely got the skill. As for why a loan shark wouldn't kill... well... sometimes you have to take a short-term loss for a long-term gain: you kill the guy who keeps refusing/excusing paying back, and people will know that if they try to cheat you, it's the end of the road for them.

Though you can of course make the argument that the man would've slashed his brother's throat on the bed and then his companions throat while her back was turned before she noticed, but I would find that... less likely.

I don't know who is actually guilty but I assume that whoever is responsible - the brother or the loan shark - would hire a professional to do it. Not do it themselves.

I get the feeling it was neither of them.

If it was the brother, he was too angry for that. If it was the loan shark, they wanted to make a statement probably (besides, Duneville wasn't exactly overflowing with professional assassins for hire either tbh :P).

My thought at the end of it was that the Watchdog was somehow involved. This dude claims to have just "seen" the knife evidence glinting because it's metal? I don't buy it. I chose not to convict either one because I was hoping an option to investigate the Watchdog involved would pop up. I'm sad there isn't. My gut tells me the guard was in on it. Either way, kind of an unsatisfying end to a sidequest. I've been a little spoiled with the quality of sidequests in this game, so I wasn't expecting a non-ending.

Sounds like maybe higher quality? I will have to go find that one... 8-)
