Is this the most boring campaign mission of all?
Talking about the asian dynasties campaign, second (chinese) mission where you have to save the admiral, who is definitly not clearly a traitor from the beginning.

Ive done these campaigns when i still went to school as a boy and i mildly remember being bored as hell from this mission even back then. Am i doing anything wrong or is there nothing else than just gathering enough recourses from the start?

Not even supermacy is that slow and i really do not appreciate that mode over deathmatch. But its bearable at least. Im stuck on the mission rn because it takes so long to even get propper troops.

Is this a thing? or am i really doing something off?

The OG devs went hard on recycling the "one of the characters on your side is actually the bad guy" trope, with almost every story they made since Age of Mythology. The Chinese one being the most obvious.

Second mission... wasn't that the one where you just create a naval fleet and destroy the base of the enemy? Pretty sure you get enough resources on your island.

Have your vills collect wood and ships food, make sure to age with the Tower/Temple that gives passive resource income. After you the destroy the enemy outpost you're pretty much safe on your little island, where after you can just build some ships to clear out sea. Then you just build some Monitor ships allowing you to nuke enemy coastline. As for the last part, send in your land army to clean house.

Thanks for the tips, so i guess there is no way around gathering, it all feels so slow idk why XD

And yeah i dont really mind the story of the campaigns, in fact i do like them even when they show some age. But the chinese one really couldnt have been more obvious. And holm was kinda obvious too though i cant tell if i would really have found out even when i didnt knew alredy. I actually enjoy a villain that is all about money, is the most human natural even though its not glorious.

What version did you buy in the steam store? You need the base game which is currently sold at 19.- for me. Not the free one.

It's already included in DE. Assuming you're not a trial player, you should have access to the campaigns as well as civs.
