I really like the 12 Labours of Hercules games but don't care for the Alicia Quartermain series. Is this game more like Hercules, more like Alicia or something entirely new?

In other jetdogs games, upgrading the house/hut/etc adds an additional worker. In this game that does not appear to be the case. Does anyone know if there is any advantage to upgrading the house?
