I had a crash on launch whose logs mentioned some Proton-related stuff even though I hadn't forced the use of a compatibility tool. Turns out SpaceChem was in fact trying to run under Proton for some reason.

I fixed it by "Forcing the use of a compatibility tool" and selecting the last element: Steam Linux Runtime 1.0

This reverts the default use of Proton.
