I have this game- non-Steam version, though- and it does run perfectly on an ancient 2001 Sony VAIO laptop. Windows XP Home Edition, Service Packs 1 & 3 installed, 256MB RAM, old Intel integrated chip, 800MHz Pentium 3 Processor. What's more, unless it is a hardware issue, I'm pretty sure the Operating System files are either corrupted somewhere or something (malware?) is gumming up some of the works since programs that by all rights should run won't.
