Interesting Software
So, I'm looking at this software and I find it interesting. The performance is one of the most inviting things about this, though also the steam shared library, and the ability to create your own assets to share with others are inviting.

I have a few questions though.

The first is this is like ComiPo, except that it's a layout for 2D assets rather than 3D assets? And like ComiPo which started with nothing to work with, as it developed the asset library increased... can I assume this will happen in time?

Where this product significantly differs from ComiPo is the ability to share and profit from illustration we do ourselves which we convert into files that work with Hokusai, then upload them to the Steam shared library. Does this assume us users can put a price on what we release to the Steam library?

Also, if we should own Hokusai outside of Steam, can we still upload our own illustrations through the Steam Hokusai?

Dear southpawdoesart,

Thank you for your message and review.
As for your question, we would like to reply as below.

The answer to the first question is "Yes".
Actually, HOKUSAI was started as a comic generator software. However, since there are few assets, we feel that it is not a comic generator software but only a character customization software 'at this moment'.

We have no plan to develop additional assets, but we are aware that increase of assets makes HOKUSAI better. So we would like you to share assets each other via workshop and community. We think that it is important to update HOKUSAI and let everyone to know about this software.

The second question is also "Yes".
We are assuming that users will sell assets. Some Japanese users already sell assets outside of Steam. We are also working on procedures for users to sell assets in Steam Workshop. We will let you know as soon as we are ready.

Also, you can sell using illustrations created with HOKUSAI for comics, video games, and so on. Already, comics and video games using Illustrations made with HOKUSAI are sold in Japan.

*However, you have to keep to follow the terms of use of the asset. Whether you can sell your works depends on the terms of use of the asset.

The third question is below.
Users who have HOKUSAI other than the Steam edition can also upload illustrations and assets using the Steam HOKUSAI.

Is this answer OK for you?
Thank you.

Thank you.

I do have some more questions if you wouldn't mind.

By the mention of 14 additional fonts available with the Hokusai Steam DLC, does that mean that the fonts available to us on our operating system are unavailable to us when using either the Hokusai Extended or the Hokusai Steam DLC?

Will Hokusai eventually make it to Linux, to work with a Linux like Fedora Design? ( https://labs.fedoraproject.org/en/design-suite/ )

Thanks for the reply.
As for your question, we would like to reply as below.

After we've imported our art and used the Hokusai image editor to create a composition, do we have any other output options like png, jpg, or tiff?

Yes, we are planning to implement options to output images other than PNG.
We are also planning to make a function to change the size freely when outputting images.
We appreciate your advice.

Am I right in assuming that the Hokusai Extended is the full version of Hokusai without the ability to upload to Steam DLC, while the Hokusai Steam DLC adds 14 fonts and the abilitiy to upload and set prices while not providing all the artistic assets that the Hokusai Extended version provides?

DLC unlocks the limitation of the number of assets that you can "install".
You can upload indefinitely even in the free version.
We recommend that you buy the DLC if you are not satisfied with 5 assets.

By the mention of 14 additional fonts available with the Hokusai Steam DLC, does that mean that the fonts available to us on our operating system are unavailable to us when using either the Hokusai Extended or the Hokusai Steam DLC?

Because there are restrictions on the program, you can not use the fonts installed on your OS in HOKUSAI. You are able to use 14 additional fonts with DLC instead.

Will Hokusai eventually make it to Linux, to work with a Linux like Fedora Design?

It's a great pleasure for us that you compare HOKUSAI with such amazing software as Fedora Design, but we have no plans to deploy HOKUSAI on platforms other than Windows.
We would like to think about that plan when this project gets on track.

Thank you.
