God Eater 3 release about a year after MHW but at the time Capcom were already announcing Iceborne, and then Code Vein (a game made by the creator of this series) is bound to release soon after; anyone who already have MHW would just save their money and wait for Iceborne, while old fans of GE might be more interested in a fresh new take and hold out for Code Vein instead.
Bamco also went hard on marketing CV, while GE3 was treated like the bastard child with zero fanfare prior to release. It might not be a stretch that they're sabotaging the series and just want it dead, even the phone gacha game Resonant OP just shuts down unceremoniously.
As mentioned, MH was also pretty niche. That changed with World because it was made to bring the series to a mainstream audience. Bandai could certainly do the same with GE, but it's not even a question of would they, but would it work?
Amine? The rapper? Lol
Probably cause most anime games are mediocre. With the exception of Dragon Ball FighterZ and Genshin Impact.
Genshin is no anomalie. Just have a look at the gacha revenue. There are plenty of games with 10+ million per month.
Hoyoverse games, Wuthering waves etc all have very well made kb mouse combat. This lousy JP console ports with clumpsy combat have been left behind some years ago.
And now we have all those copycats, but before this rise of gacha games, there have been countless other anime games, free and otherwise, that tried to make a splash and failed. Therefore, if you look at anime games as a whole, Genshin AND ITS SUCCESSORS are an anomaly. Genshin even more so as it's the only one a regular person outside of anime gaming or even gaming in general might've heard of.
Leaving pricing modell , stamina etc for once aside, most of them have in common, a good playability, qoL improvements and optimization.
JP just slept for a decade an now there are other Kings of the Hills.
Don´t get me wrong. I´m not here to advertise gacha games. Just saying how it is (from my pov).
