Linux version won't start

When trying to play this on Linux, the window briefly shows and then immediately closes. Any pointers as to how to resolve this?

Six months later, but this happens to me from time to time with many Artifex Mundi games. I think it has something to do with their custom engine.

Normally, restarting Steam gets it to fully launch, but sometimes I have to try several times before it works.
