New Launcher Technical Issues
Feel free to post in this thread any issues you might be having with the new launcher. If people can help each other out, that's great.

If you want to make sure 2K/Firaxis are aware of the issue, please contact 2K Support through their website at support.2k.com. If you are playing the Mac or Linux version, please get in touch with Aspyr Support instead.

Please remain polite, civil and respectful when posting in this thread (as in any other). Other threads will be merged here.

If you want to share an opinion about the new launcher other than a technical issue, please post in the other pinned thread, on new launcher opinions.

2K Support have an FAQ page at https://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/360011935293 - this mentions a workaround, presumably to get the old launcher, stated as being for XP and Vista users but it apparently works for 7/8/10 users as well; I've heard reports of it helping with the worldbuilder problems:

Open up Steam and navigate to your LIBRARY.
Right click on the game in your library and choose "Properties."
Selected the "BETAS" tab.
In the text box to "Enter beta access for to unlock private beta:" enter the password "ineedlegacyaccess".
Click on the "CHECK CODE" button.
You should see a confirmation message that access has been granted.
If not already selected in the drop down, select "legacy" and click close.
(I'm told that bit isn't accurate; you'll see two options, both labelled "Play Civilization V". You need to select the FIRST option)

There are also reports that you have to start the game through Steam in order to not get the new launcher after doing this, though only the first time. Shortcuts apparently work okay after that.

Furthermore, there are reports that you may need to either verify files or restart the Steam client after activating the legacy beta. If your problem is Worldbuilder, you may also need to verify files for the SDK itself.

If you have game file modifications, specially installed mods or "Fake DLC" mods, you may need to reinstall them after the update. This can potentially happen for any update to a game when you have modifications of that sort.

UPDATE DECEMBER 5th 2018: A launcher update has been released that should fix the scaling problems on high DPI systems and the WorldBuilder launch issue.

The game doesn't start
I know that it was an update and now i can't open the game, i have restarted my PC, i have verified the files, i dont know what else to do.

For me the game did start, but I was at a loss at first.
The launcher showed up on my secondary monitor and kinda blended in with the background.

So, if you have a second monitor, check there.

NEW LAUNCHER - Breaks the game
It broke my game, content locks all my files, and refuses to allow me to play.

Try verifying files. Steam sometimes messes things up during updates.

I've done it 3 times. First time when the new launcher installed. 2nd time after restart. 3rd time after I did a fresh reinstall of the game and now it just locked my content files.

New launcher breaks mutliplayer
For a while now I have been playing mutliplayer games (with the JdH's CiV Mp Mod Manager) since the normal game has huge issues with modded multiplayer, but the new update now also ruined that function.

I was not planing on Buying 6 and this doesn't help either. We were having some great games till this happened, quite a bummer tonight.

Well, mods in MP aren't supported. They're hardly going to be making sure that a third-party tool that enables you to do something that they don't support still works when they replace the launcher, are they?

New launcher stops me playing at highest resolution
If I try to use my old native resolution of 2560X1440 the game now creates a complete video mess once the games starts - I just get lables smeared around the screen. Seems ok if I drop to 1920 X 1080 it seems to work ok but of course the graphics are not so good - what's going on ?

Gross they 'update' the game only to plug Civ 6 rather than address issues in the game.

I don't know, but it might be worth letting 2K Support know about it.

They also know the game is pretty much still alive bc of the mods. Could have easily build in into the MP of the base game.

Well ofc, have you seen the reviews, they need to sell it somehow. I was going to buy it, but seeing how others did not enjoy it over this one really but me off.
