Serpent stew effectiveness
I’m wondering if serpent stew is actually a very top tier food. Serpent meat is pretty easy to get aside from obviously finding the serpents in the first place. So can anyone give me some information on if it’s worth spending time and resources on?

Serpent Stew's worth it, imho. Once you get the hang of murdering serpents it becomes, as you say, pretty easy to kill them with regularity and collect the meat which, thankfully, floats. It's a 30m duration food that doesn't see anything eclipse it until the Mistlands, and the only other ingredients are honey and red mushrooms, both of which are plentiful.
Sea serpents can spawn at night in the ocean> serpents that spawn in this way despawn at sunrise.

Sea serpents can spawn in the ocean or coastal waters any time it is raining or thunderstorming. These sea serpents don't ever despawn you have to harvest them to get rid of them.

The chance for them to spawn is low. For me the most often they ever spawned was when I built a raft to cross a channel that was too far to swim. They all most always spawned then.

As far as the resources being worth it. The harpoon is useful for other things so go for it and take it along with you if you are sailing. If you happen upon a serpent you'll be ready to handle it.
yeah you'll want it as a boss battle type food mid game. they are just a bit uncommon unless you are a serious fishmonger.

best thing by serpent meat is you can make serpent stew (80/26) and eat cooked serpent meat (70/23) plus 3rd choice, hp or stamina food.... 175´+ hp and 99+ stamina... it depends of your needs

the rare meat (compared to say, bug meat or lox meat, you are lucky to get 1-2 / night vs dozens, assuming all these are easy kills and you are just farming 'junk' food) coupled with shroom hunting (tedious) and the weight of the serpent meat (excessive) make it kind of aggravating and not worth farming to eat it nonstop. Its a good idea to farm at least 2-3 kills for boss fights as soon as you can handle doing so, sure. Its easily the best food available until plains and you can usually get some in a karve with a bow around the mid-late black forest!

Also, be sure to grill a couple. Just plain grilled its 70 health, better than lox.

an advice for the game in general. Never go looking for anything specific, you just end up waisting allot of time running around.
instead just collect everything you find on your way and make example 50 boxes in your base and dump it there.
You mostly come across serpents, boar and berries when you dont look for them, but if you specific go look for something you typical have a hard time finding it. ;-)
So kill and collect stuff when you bump into it is my advice.
And the serpent.. well you typical will find them randomly when you do those long sailing trips just bring a good bow and some arrows then its pretty easy and a great oppotunity to get som great meat.
Serpent stew is the best early to mid game food available. It gives you the same amount of health and stamina as mistland food, so it's a no-brainer for fighting bosses.
serpent stew is damn good food: you can craft it since you find some iron and chains in the swamp (needs an iron cooking station) and has the stats of mistland-tier food (almost identical to honey glazed chicken and meat platter). The only "hard" part is patrolling the sea at night or during storms to get a serpent spawn, you don't even have to lure it near shore as the meat is the only serpent drop that floats on water.
