I enabled beta, picked a picture, moved 3 edge pieces, thought, hm, where did I get that picture, could I even upload it as screenshot? Changed the picture, the three edge pieces are still where I moved them.
Decided to use one of the photos I made on my balcony, just to be sure, and the pieces are still moved.
I really like how I can just easily pick a picture now, btw, thanks for the update! :)
(It's private, so only you, Steam admins, and I can see it.)

Also, I had moved some more pieces, but it forgot that. Just the three I'd moved with the first image I'd picked are still moved.
(Edit: I had clicked Start when going back to the image, forgot about Return. Oops. :) But to clarify what I want to say: Start should not remember just the three pieces any which way round.)
(Edit2: Mouse wheel zoom change fixes the weirdly linked pieces.)
I probably need to clear out the custom save if you load in a image.
I'll check on that soon. My initial guess - it reloaded the save while keeping the current zoom setting. It would explain why it didn't show more pieces moved. It only saves on pieces connecting or a normal game close.
Start should just be acting like the return button. Maybe its been reloading the save this whole time and I never noticed.
I can't seem to reproduce it. I made the below changes that might prevent it from happening:
- Start button will act like the return button if you didn't select a different puzzle. (Previously it loaded the save every time the start button was clicked. The zoom amount was stored in the save so it shouldn't been any issue.)
- The zoom setting will only change in the puzzle screen now. The mouse wheel was still changing the value at anytime before. (It did however still change the piece positions and size to make it look correct when you went back to the puzzle. It technically shouldn't have broke anything.)
I didn't upload this yet. I wanted to check it more first.
Let me know when I can update the beta and try myself, too.
I have to come back and look at resetting the custom save when the image changes. Couple negative side effects happen if you load a different resolution photo currently. It is all fixed by manually hitting reset.
Am trying to repeat what I did to test this. Loaded image, moved some pieces (2 linked), loaded new picture, went back to puzzle: it's still the one I had loaded before, but the custom image image in the menu shows the 2nd one.
Will edit this comment with more when I have reason to. :)
It isn't reloading the puzzle when you go back so it still maintains the old image. I'm pretty sure the fix will end up being clearing the custom puzzle save when you swap the image out.
Since I made swapping the images easier - I can try to add in a few more custom image slots at the same time. I don't have to teach someone how to name the files now.
Hehe. Sounds like a great idea! :)
Concerning clearing the custom puzzle save, maybe add a warning that the progress will be lost when you load a different image into a custom image slot that already has a started puzzle in it.
+Double clicking the puzzle will now start the puzzle. (Two clicks with 0.5 second)
+Random code cleanup.
