Great game! give it a try

This game was a rich experience.
I found myself being drawn into it more and more as time progressed.
- It goes into philosophy, specifically the morality of right and wrong
- the repeating histories of civilisations
- graphically quite pleasant (even on lowest graphics settings -> had to play it on low end machine)
- very low combat
- every dialog is voice acted and it's quite good too
- most importantly a very interesting story with a time paradox!
I suggest playing it in one go. I really recommend to play the game attempting to reach ending 4. It's more involved, but is really quite a lot more satisfying :)

I think people comparing this to Outer Wilds must be so starved for an Outer Wilds-like experience that they'll accept anything that is even remotely comparable. This game just barely crosses the threshold into being barely comparable, so overwhelmingly positive it gets. On a 1 to 10 scale, Outer Wilds being a 10, this game is a 3 at best.

SPOILERS AHEAD

The thing that makes Outer Wilds so satisfying is figuring things out. Something which is entirely non-existent in this game, because it has a quest log that updates your current objectives whenever you find any useful information. It even has a pop-up appear on screen telling you about the update. The devs were asked for an option to disable these and they declined. So you don't need to think about if information is relevant or useful, the game will tell you, very explicitly, and provide you with an updated goal. There's even quest markers, which can thankfully be turned off. So replace the ship log and rumor map from Outer Wilds with a good ol' RPG style quest list.

Regarding the characters, I'm not sure what people see in them? There's a solid 10-15 dialogue options with most of them and they're fine, but they're just very normal people? Are peoples expectations for character writing in games so low that characters which are not cringe-inducing are instantly elevated to "great"? Where's the middle ground? Cause that's where all of these characters land. Which is fine, mind you. They're serviceable.

But oh boy, the impact the characters have on the mystery solving of this game. Most of the progress is made through saying the right thing to the right person. But there is no option to say the wrong thing to the wrong person. It doesn't matter if you "figured it out", cause your character did. So just talk to whoever and if you have new information that can be used a new dialogue option appears. Combined with the quest log, you can ignore all text! Cause the quest will tell you who to talk to and the available options will tell you what to say. Compare this to Outer Wilds where you find information in various places and then its your job to think about how to act on said information. The difference is night and day.

Last and definitely least, this game has combat??? It feels so out of place and shoehorned in. I assume it's a holdover from it being a Skyrim mod, but why not remove it? In my 5.9h of gametime I got all the endings, including the cannon ending where everyone made it, and combat made up about 15minutes of that I reckon. I think removing the enemies and replacing it with atmospheric music would've been better.

I have many smaller complaints but I've rambled enough already.
