Hello, if you are connecting peer-to-peer your connection is based on your host's connection, as you are connecting directly to them. You can try having someone else host if they are having issues.

We tried both ways but it made no difference.
But im pretty sure the problem is with linux which is what i was running the game on. I switched to windows to see if that would make a difference and we could play with no connection issues.

We have been playing for a few hours without disconnects now.
That was good fun.
