You need to go from all the way up to all the way down in one single smooth movement. Neither interrupted nor to fast.
Don't close the thread! I'm also having problems with this and this thread's a good way of highlighting the issue. The mechanic is clunky as hell and needs to be fixed.
I use a trackball and with standard sensitivity I am physically unable to perform it as well.
You could even move the mouse off the mouse pad and onto your leg, moving there for that minigame.
And I am several missions in and that particular treatment hasn't surfaced again yet as it's not really common for first responders in real life.
Unless you are safe in that procedure it's better to not do it at all as an error in that can kill the patient instead of helping him/her. Done to fast, to violent, simply by to much or if the patient has a punctured lung (not really visible from the outside to untrained people) can lead to collapse.
Same with CPR. An untrained helper can do way more harm than help if done faulty.
For instance to much pressure or doing it in the wrong place (too low) and you could break the rips which in turn can perforate the lungs, heart, liver, ...
Done with to little pressure and it does not work at all ...
Bottom line:
Regardless of it being mandatory in your country or not do a refresher course every now and again.
Also, I know others have said to go slow with the ventilation, but don't go too slow - I've actually found you can go pretty fast and it still works. Key is not to let go of the mouse button until you're back down to the circle.
dont get me wrong i like the directions and most of the mechanics but yes this i belive is the biggest issue currently
