Copy profile.dat/slot-patch-0.dat from the Epic location into the Steam location and start the game, it just ignores the saves and overwrites them.
The files are gzip compressed files, if you use something like 7zip to decompress them, it's just json, looks like:

There appears to be no difference in the format/structure from epic to steam, so maybe the gziped files are somehow then tagged for a specific install. I've also heard of people backing up their saves and not being able to restore them?
