Other than that I did sort of enjoy Amnesia, even though it scared me way too much at times.
As for scary games in general: I feel just not showing anything to be afraid of, but heavily implying something is there, is more effective than actually showing something scary and giving it a "face".
The unknown is always more scary than the known.
