Are endless reinforcements the norm
I have just started only a few hours in. I am wondering if most or all missions have endless reinforcements. Or what the ratio is more or less?

Yes, most missions have endless reinforcements. Unless the mission specifies "Kill All" in the Mission Execution tab, at top left of screen. Kill All has a limited number of AI attackers.

Just me n my pc... For 8 timer siden 
It varies. But the xp is usually fixed based on the victory conditions.
