Pity that my favorite fighting games get dropped like a hot potato - first Soul Calibre and now (or then) DOA. Maybe I should ask Hello Games to branch out into the fighter genre ;)
And what about Team Ninja, are they even in business anymore? Maybe they should just open-source the game if they are abandoning the franchise.
Team Ninja still in business yes, sadly they don't care much for DOA as a series as its spinoff gacha game makes much more money than this. They also struggled to find its place with the modern market, stay as a "sexy fighting game" which gets people shun it from events and gets bad press or try to clean up the act and risk loosing the core fans who don't mind fan service. Regardless, their main focus is with other IP's at the moment and the only mention of seeing another main series DOA game is mostly just rumour.
Well, at least there are mods. I'll have to check them out.
Sadly, as long as the twitter mob exist, any game that isn't GTA which contains anything "sexy" related is surely to be cancelled by the mobs of non-gamers, (ironically) because bouncy boobs is turning their kids into murderers, not their lack of good parenting, oh no, games are. That or its objectifying women (despite males being present with similar costumes)... basically, its the error of cry babies.
Once upon a time, if you didn't like it, you didn't buy it but alas, now its the days of making sure everyone follows you, which in turn puts others of buying it due to not wanting the bad stigma associating with them either.
But yeah, one of the leads (or more?) behind team ninja who oversaw DOA did leave the studio so its certainly just another nail into the sinking coffin, if we lucky they might try their luck at another game but only time will tell. Sadly, like most things now days, they have a gacha game robbing people blind every day for their cash, why make a AAA game and only make a few million when you can make that every month with a low effort mobiles game?
But yeah, mods are good fun, that true way to enjoy these games for sure.
And there are many great costumes, some of which is inspired by DOAXVV costumes.
