Greetings Commanders!

I'm glad to announce the Base Building DLC is now LIVE!

Available station models include:

· Standard stations that provide basic services like ship repair and trading with NPCs;

· Weapon turrets to provide defenses;

· Production stations: factories, laboratories and "agristations";

· Power plants and Solar arrays that provide energy to nearby bases;

· Jumpgates;

· Beacons that provide light or set spawn positions on the sector;

Internal station modules

Each station comes with a few default modules like a generator or a basic defense setup, then a limited space for expansion, allowing deeper customization.

Station Capture

In addition to building your own base, you can now capture enemy stations (limited to hideouts for now).

New ship role: Engineer

Engineer ships have a built-in 'Builder module', which is required for base building. They also have bonus to repair beams, which are used in the actual building process.

2 tier 3 yachts (size 2): the Beaver and Raccoon.

New game mode: Station defense

A new "Tower Defense" inspired game mode where you start with an engineer ship equipped with a repair beam instead of a normal weapon, and basic materials in order to build your base right from the start. Battle enemies in waves and trade with NPCs to grow your empire!

Depositing trade goods to your own station now goes directly to the station storage, instead of the normal "in the station" section. Materials are still automatically added to stash if possible (your stations use their storage AND your stash when building or trading stuff).
You can no longer sell items to your own station.
Reduced XP gain from the Station Defense quest chain.
Player stations now receive 20% less XP when enemies are defeated nearby.
Added message to big asteroid tooltips telling you need a mining station to extract its resources.

I can't go five minutes without a group of 10 hostiles warping in, mostly silver and gold stars, to wipe me off the face of the galaxy. They literally warp in a minute or two after my warp drive is ready, so I've just been jumping between systems trying to escape them. PLEASE HAVE THEM STOP SHOWING UP AS OFTEN, THIS IS NOT FUN!!!...

This game scratches multiple itches for me: Exploration, trucking and mining. It still needs some QoL stuff, but overall it's a terrific game.

After a long development time, the Update 2.2 is here! The Base Building DLC is coming only on the 28th of this month, however, you can enjoy many cool new things, fixes and requested features.

Big Asteroid models were remade and they now interact with the game plane, forming "space caves". They can be mined with mining bases, either by the AI or the player with base building DLC.
Items (trade goods) are now produced (or extracted) in mining bases, factories, agristations and laboratories, which are mostly available in civilian sectors (including PMC and Syndicate ones).
Sectors are now generated with fewer stations, but they have more variety like mining bases or factories. Faction controlled sectors will also spawn turret defenses. Old saves were adjusted to reflect this change.
Added actual NPC traders, which will buy/sell items from stations to keep productions going, even when not in the current sector. Their number is tied to galaxy size and is finite, for now.
Added 7 new items (trade goods): Ice, Organic Matter, Chemicals, Computers, Advanced Composites, Volatile, Batteries.
Stations now have lower chances of selling a particular item, which should make each market more unique. Ammo is always sold in most stations.
Sectors suffering attacks by battle fleets or assault on player bases (a DLC feature), do not receive NPC traders and have ship population drastically reduced.
You can now interact(dock) with Marauder and Mercenary hideouts, when friendly.
Hideouts now enter a 'deactivated' state when they have no shields and all guard ships are destroyed. You can dock at deactivated bases and choose one of the following actions: **Plunder**, for money and goods; **Salvage**, for crafting materials; **Hack**, for Tech level and blueprints; **Capture**, to claim the base to yourself (and later to other factions). The Capture option requires base building DLC.
The station interface now shows a 3D image of its model as a background, whose visibility can be customized in settings.
Added spaceship: Artemis, tier 3 independent Corsair, size 6 (Dreadnought).
Added spaceship: Leviathan, tier 2 independent Freighter, size 6 (Dreadnought).
Added spaceship: Aurora, tier 2 independent Mining, size 5 (Cruiser).
Added spaceship: Toupeira, tier 2 independent Mining, size 1 (Shuttle).
Added spaceship: Posylny, tier 2 independent Freighter, size 1 (Shuttle).
Added spaceship: Sparrow, tier 1 independent Fighter, size 2 (Yacht), replacing the old Galaxy (worn) model.
Added weapon: 'Improved Mining Laser'.
Added equipment: 'Mining Drone Bay Mk.II'.
Manned turrets will now mine asteroids if they have a mining laser installed.
Now you gain 'Fleet Commander' points when your fleet mines. It's based on the sector level and is considerably slower than actual combat.
Energy Orbs are now craftable.
Drones with auto targeting will now repair and attack stations automatically.
Drones with auto-targeting will now search for a new target near its owner if they fail to find one close to its current position.
Repair drones when too far will return to orbiting its owner instead of recalling (deactivating). Attack drones with auto targeting will also search for a new target near its owner before recalling.
Improved collector beam loot detection and item pulling.
Special crewman Tigger received new abilities (only available for new games though).
Item tool tip now show base price if you have 'Market Insight'
Pressing 'Order Fire' will now break cloaking (or camouflage) if you have gunners able to fire.
Blueprint rewards will now try to prioritize weapons and equipment higher than level 5, with very low chance of lower levels or trade goods.
Improved overall image contrast.
The starter ship model now has a trait that reduces its sell price, especially for bigger class sizes.
Changed (improved) plasma and cannon fire sounds.
Battle Fleets now update position twice as fast, but the resulting travel speed is just a bit faster.
Plasma weapons base projectile speed increased from 60 to 70. They also received a new mechanic called 'Heat bloom' (name not definitive) which adds a raw DPS bonus based on current hardpoint heat, where 5 heat points equals 1 DPS up to double the weapon's normal damage.
Heat bloom is also available as a crafting modifier.
Added the option to treat neutral ships as friendly when firing at them, which is now default.
Added 2 special crewman: Wraith and Rojopappu.
Added 1 more zoom out level for all ship sizes.
Battle Computer now shows target info based on its version: 1.0: Hull Points; 2.0: Armor and Damage Resistance; 3.0: Shields.
The quest to become 'White Collar' no longer triggers after 3 declines.
Casual/Streamer mode can now be played in Hardcore difficulty.
Added 2 more songs to the ambient music.
Added in-game clock
Mouse hovering the XP bar in the left panel now shows the actual value for current and next level.
The first active quest objectives are now shown on the UI (prioritized by time limit).
'Base Component' renamed to 'Basic Component'
Improved Upgrade Kits are now crafted with 1 Refined Metal instead of 2.
Manned PD turrets may now target enemy drones that are attacking player fleet ships or stations.
AI ships over level 10 now use tractor beams to slow down enemies.
CoT ships now use cloaking device when engaging enemies.
AI stations can now level up when its lower than the sector level.

While it is a fun game, there are a variety of problems that I think stem primarily from how the game is being developed.
Saving in this game is seemingly, quite horrid. Enemies (their positions, their types, their weapon load-outs) seemingly re-roll on relog depending on distance. I was defending a station when I got killed, and when the game reloaded, suddenly the enemy fleet was point-blank on the station. I was then, repeatedly, killed by this sandwich several times over until escape.

The game had auto-saved me here, and my last manual save was fifteen minutes ago. Because, on top of this, the game does NOT support multiple save files. The developer themselves stated it was because they wanted to "prevent save scumming features" before adding it in. This does mean, that if your auto-save and your manual save gets corrupted, you could lose all of your progress. And it brings me concern that perhaps the Developer, might care a bit more about making sure players play their game 'the way they intended' rather than ensuring the experience is not frustrating.

This relog bug also applies to reloading saves during an iron-man run. (when you save and quit) This does mean, however unlikely, you could reload the game and have enemies in places they WEREN'T in before and get killed or otherwise harmed immensely through no fault of your own.
(This one is more rare, as enemies don't often end up near stations.)

Allied fleets have horrid AI. Syndicate or Miner fleets will deliberately go to attack the Red Skulls, yet will allow Red Skull ships not assigned to the current base, to just hammer them as they fly by. And maybe, sometimes, a single ship or two will turn to go fight off the Red Skulls that are hitting them with missiles. This also means, despite you being venerated or outright allied with them, they might just sit there watching you get hit by enemy ships and refuse to help. (They may, even, actively get in your way).

The new base DLC also feels unfinished. Stocking the correct amount of supplies listed to 'alter the market price' does not actually seem to do anything. Furthermore, you cannot set your own price for things in an attempt to divert more traffic to your sector or play the market.

Trading early on, also, feels like a complete waste. Especially because the only way to see what people are buying and selling things for in determined by finding a trading codex 3.0, which isn't that easy to get early on. Meaning you have to manually write down trade numbers and fly between systems. Mark this with the fact trade ships are vulnerable, and this game throwing very challenging enemies at you, and compartment space is very finite, makes trading not a worthwhile investment at all.

Enemies, further more, are both the best and worst part about this game. They will challenge you, and they have different AI's and weapons to keep you planning and adjusting your strategy. They don't seem to make many mistakes, outside of being cheesed. For some, this might be a bonus. Enemies that rarely miss, have perfect control over their spaceship and will never overheat weapons, misjudge turns, and have zero self preservation.

I however, think it is rather poorly executed. I felt no different taking on any of the enemies in this game. They all felt like AIs, which I guess would be fitting for the alien-robot race, but all the other factions fought exactly the same. Sure their ships looked different, and some of them have unique weapon loadouts, but I otherwise didn't feel like I was actually taking on different threats. (I think I could count maybe, two or three times an enemy ACTUALLY retreated out of the system when it was about to die)

This unfortunately also bleeds into mass fleet battles. There is very rarely any kind of strategy. Be it two enemy ai fleets fighting, or your own. Battles erupt into mass swarms of ships just shooting each other. Ships don't retreat, they rarely flank to the point where I have to assume that when it did happen, it was an accident, and there is absolutely no attempt by the AI to cover for anyone. Going back to the AI issue, repair ships are never covered. They'll watch two fighters attack their repair ship and just keep flying by to attack some Corvette further away.

The lack of dialogue outside of quests also kind of burns out the whole RPG aspect of this game. There is very little roleplaying to do outside of quest dialogue and being able to extort ships you hail and hiring mercenaries. You can't talk to stations, you can't recruit allied ships to follow you around for a bit, you can't trade with random vessels nor can you do stuff like requesting their repair services and the like.

Stations, also don't really seem to restock their goods? Several of my stations noted on the galactic map that they sell things like processors or energy cells, but no matter how long I wait or whether I'm buying or selling other items, they never seemed to restock these items. Maybe this was just an issue specific to me, a bug of some kind, but it really hampered my ability early on to progress.

Speaking of stations, there was absolutely no indication when you build your own station on how to run the market place. No matter what I put in there, no matter whether I was buying or selling goods, I never recorded a single instance in my hours playing of a single NPC ever buying or selling anything. Ever. At all. They would use the station to repair themselves, but they never actually traded a single material.

Progression in this game seems to have a love-hate relationship with how fast it wants you to go through it. The game slows down to a crawl if you aren't going through areas at or above your level. However, the game makes it very clear when your ship is outclassed, you'll die in several hits, especially since there is rarely ever just one enemy nearby. This can create a feedback loop of you having to slog through lower level areas to unlock new tech or getting enough cash to buy a new ship or equipment. Especially since quests seem to regenerate very slowly.

Also, while you can bind extra mouse buttons to weapon firing, you can't map extra mouse buttons to controls for some reason. It would have been handy to have targeting controls mapped in such a way that I didn't have to take my fingers off of my movement keys. Especially when dodging certain projectiles is the difference between defeat or victory.

Are the bases being attacked too often?

Tower defense and base building are highly integrated. If you may give me an option to separate them? The diplomacy module that can only build once in a galaxy is almost useless in the attacks that happened in every 5 minutes, Id only delivered raw materials from other star systems to my production base five times before the ransomware attack began, and the money demanded for each attack is far more than my income from selling cells and computers and animal meat. If I paid, my work would be in vain. If...

I found something out.

There is a mod that allows you to summon hunting fleets. In a neutral zone or friendly zone that would not matter. Because they would be friendly. However, with the DLC you can summon a marauder fleet if you are near your base station even in a friendly or neutral zone. This allows you to level your base up fast....

"Galaxy map isnt ready yet"

I just had the weirdest error message after loading my save file. "Galaxy map isnt ready yet" when I tried opening the galaxy map. Also something about a building ID couldnt be found and was reset to default. It seems like the game is completly unable to load anything except the sector I am in. While writing this after the 6th try the game finally properly loaded the save. Should I be worried? Should I abandon that save and continue the auto save just to be sure nothing is broken?...
