Pausing in battle, possible?
I might be missing it but is there a way to pause the game during battle to take stock of the situation and/or issue orders? I didn't see it listed in the controls but could have overlooked it and I tried the common pause buttons used by other games but got nothing.

There is pause function, you might need to set it to more convenient hotkey.
However you can't order unit production or pretty much do anything during the pause for some stupid reason.

I came here searching for this very thing but... ah, that's this game very likely out for me then unfortunately. I don't play competitively/mp much, being a loser with no gaming friends and preferring to quick pause and shoot off orders (simulating the autonomy real live troops would have) and being cackhanded at kb controls/hotkeys (none of those three being mutually exclusive lol)
The above is pretty much how I've played DoW, CoH and others single player for many years and I'm used to it.

A real shame they didn't include that function, which while being disabled in mp matches anyway, would also be useful to train oneself better to use kb/hotkeys in sp without feeling pressured and quitting. I'd have moved this to the top of my wishlist otherwise.

oh thanks for this info. some players use the pause function (like me... every solier have to survive :D) and som players do not. this game dont support both players? fine, ill save my money for another game
TBH it is a real time strategy game, not a turnbased one...

There is no reason to be a Real time Strategy game, if you cant feel to some degree that "your time is going away".. It is not like it would be they are billions or something...

TBH we are all different and options are not a bad thing, option A will not hurt the person who prefer option B if they both exist. :cuphead:

It's amazing how many people don't get that. More options for more play styles is a good thing and the very nature of them being options doesn't mean you have to use them.

Just looked into this game.
Seams like I'm not buying it as not supporting tactical-pause is just neglection

You can pause to think about the next step/action to make and then unpause and do it efficiently.

Thank you for your suggestion, but that's not really the same. It's not about being too hard, it's about not being stressed while relaxing after work

Tbh the pause function is the most minor issue in the game, the AI is the main one.

My library is full of RTS games old and new, which i only play the campaigns for. A majority allow Real-time-with-pause during their campaigns. It's literally the genre standard and its clunkiness is one of the ways this devs inexperience shows.

Still, what's there is better than nothing even if it's not as well implemented as usual.

Love how people criticize a game that is visually stunning because they don't get their silly pause option the way they want it. People are spoiled and don't know how to appreciate things for what they are. An amazing piece of art. The entitlement annoys me.

If you pause the game (default is the "Pause Break" key on your keyboard) then you can scroll around the map to look and plan etc.

You can select units and click where you want them to move too, though you can't tell them to use cover.

If you have a building production screen open when you pause then you can click on any building to see and order production.

I'm not sure anybody needs more than this do they? :ft_huh:
The pause seems useful enough when I play on steam deck using a controller. I'm pleasantly surprised it works as it does.
