Things to check before contacting the Square Enix Support Team

We suggest that you check the forums before contacting support, to rule out the most common issues.

1. Update your graphics card drivers.
Even if you have an automatic update for your drivers in place, please look up the latest drivers for your graphics card and install them.

NVIDIA users can run a search here.[{LINK REMOVED}].
AMD Radeon users, please check for the latest driver here.[{LINK REMOVED}]

2. Consider the minimum/recommended system requirements.
If you find yourself below the minimum specs, it is likely that you won't be able to run the game, or only run it with very poor performance. Meeting minimum spec requirements should allow you to run the game at native or one step below native resolution and low settings.

If you fall at or above the recommended specs, you should be able to play at higher resolutions or with increased graphical fidelity.

If your system falls in between, consider experimenting with different graphics options in the game menu to see how they affect performance on your system.

3. Try disabling additional (third party) software that might interfere with the game.
If your game does not start, close all third party software that might be interacting with the game in some way. Applications like Discord or Teamspeak come with overlays that can hook into the game. Streaming or desktop recording software, like OBS Studio or Bandicam, can also cause issues for some users. Please also double-check your firewall and antivirus settings and whitelist the game or add it to a list of privileged programs.

4. Please verify integrity of local files through Steam.
In your game library, right-click Just Cause 4 and click 'Properties', select the 'Local Files' tab, then click the 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache' button and wait for Steam to verify your installation of the game. Any damaged or missing files will be downloaded automatically in order to repair your local copy. It is good practice to always do this after downloading a patch or DLC.

5. Please ensure your machine or graphics card is not overheating or running into problems due to being overclocked.

Try using default factory settings for your hardware to see if this resolves your problem and revert and disable any changes made by software like Rivatuner or MSI Afterburner.

If you can't find a thread addressing your issue, please contact the Square Enix Support Team using the URLs above.

So has your game become abandoware now? There are many people reporting graphical bugs with the game (giant graphical glitches/corruption/stretched textures sprawling across the horizon) there has also been crashing issues some solved by turning off decals. Can you at least give us the smallest helping hand and tell us what we have to do in order to enjoy the game. People are still paying for it and wanting to play it. I have a RTX 3080, i9 10900K, 32GB DDR4 3200mhz RAM and have the game on my fast as hell NVME drive. I also have the latest NVidia drivers installed (its happened with all previous recent drivers as far as I know).

Hi, I just bought Just Cause 2 today because I had the opportunity to try it in the past and I really liked it. Anyways for some reason the game is lagging a whole lot. Some examples of the issues I encountered was every cut-scenes have audio and video issues. Like sometime they would play extremely slowly and 98% of the time the voices and effects will be late or early and not even in synchronisation. As for the game-play itself it's not great and my mouse reacts about a second after I move it which y'know makes the game almost unplayable. My laptop is pretty decent, 8GB ram, 4 core, intel 5 8th gen. Many years ago I played it on a much worse computer so I really don't understand why this is happening. I tried lowering the visuals quality but nothing changed. If anyone has a suggestion i'm all ears. Thanks
