Besides, IMHO the last thing you want is crew getting in and out of your ship while you're on the move or in a fight, risking them all dying in space as more and more of your crew keep flying out to their death until you can't move the ship anymore.
that isn't what i wanted to do. i wanted it to be similar to a cargo transfer, this would allow you to create small stations with hyperspace capability and possibly limited thrusters that would allow you to transfer cargo back and forth. all without needing uranium. having crew constantly try to keep the other ship powered would be dumb.
On a similar vein, I think it's a missed opportunity that the resource manipulators can't deliver power cells.
