Whenever someone asks me what are my favourite games the same three come to mind: The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, Super Mario Galaxy and Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch. I've always been a fan of Miyazaki's movies and playing this games feels like being thrown right into one of his works. Everything from the graphics to the music to the story reminds me of Studio Ghibli.

GRAPHICS: Even though the game came out some time ago, the stylized cell shaded still holds up very well. Especially thanks to the great texture work made in collaboration with the studio ghibli artists.

MUSIC: The ost is composed by the master himself: Joe Hisahishi. He is the composer for studio ghibli and nothing can be said about the music he makes. It's just masterful

GAMEPLAY: I was never a fan of turn based combat, especially at the age I played this game. But Ni No Kuni tries to put a spin on this genre by combining it with some real time mechanics (like the need to defend at the right time or the ability to run around to collect mana) that allows the fights to feel very engaging. You can also give members of your team different task during the combat like heal, attack, defend yourself, that really enables you to play as you wish.

STORY: What really struck me about this game was its story. The character you play is very likeable, and the supporting cast is great. Everyone adds something unique to the team and you will end up feeling very attatched to all of them. I won't spoil anything, but this was the game the tought my teenager self how to cry again. The story can be heartbreaking and touching, but will also fill you with joy.

CONCLUSION: If you like the movies from Studio Ghibli, this game is for you, if you like good story drivven games, this game is for you, if you like games that feel like anime, this game is for you, if you don't like turned based combat, I suggest to still give this game a try, the fights will be much more fun than you might think.

Amazing game. As a Steam Deck on Windows user (not sure if the issue exists on Linux), there's a UI glitch where the dpad button prompts don't show correctly. Other than that inconvenience, no issues.
