The game is very realistic, i can send under age children to fight a war.

TLDR: Tactical SRPG with Third person and first person character control.

Pros:
- Lots of Characters to choose from for your squad
- Order System (Squad Buffing system)
- Small interactions between Squad members
- Fully voice acted
- Unique gameplay to this franchise
- Grey morality for the story with not much right or wrong choices
- Qols improvement over the first game

Neutral:
- Orders IMO are really strong like the defense buff. Makes damage almost Trivial
- Even with the quick animations on enemies turn, Still feels a little bit slow. (At least they tried to address it)
- Enemy Reinforcement (Yes I know ambush exist but feels bad getting a failed mission due to this with the lack of a rewind feature)

Cons:
- Small bugs or hit box issues (Bloody radiator hitbox)
- No autosave feature. Failing a Mission towards the end, means restarting the whole stage
- RNG on dodging bullets
- I feel story is abit weaker than VC1


Overall still enjoyable. It has engaging gameplay but I prefer the story and characters of the first game.

Recently finished this game, It's very worth it I used way too many Grenadiers since you can remove someone far away from the map in your general direction.

P.S Kai's arse is a bloody distraction, it's smoother than a damn fresh jar of skippy.

If you liked Valkyria Chronicles 1, this is basically a complete improvement on that game: More and better mechanics, better graphics and better level design.

The story is also very much better than the 1st, with great characters and fantastic story points that hit harder than any story element in 1 will ever hit. Claude Wallace is a fantastic character, as well as Riley, Kai and Raz.

The core gameplay is solid, but unfortunately the mission design is god-awful. The game outright cheats you constantly, and in many missions your only option is to either reload over and over again or follow a walkthrough. Here are some examples of what I am talking about:

-Enemies spawning behind your units and immediately killing them in one hit.
-Near invincible boss units that love to sit on top of the point you are required to defend, forcing you to throw units at them in an endless meat grinder to avoid failing the mission.
-Enemies spawning in positions where it is impossible to shoot back at them unless you run a unit halfway across the map.
-Starting a mission with 3 enemy tanks right on top of you AND letting the enemy take the first turn, guaranteeing that some of your units will get killed before you can even PLAY THE GAME.

This isn't an issue that comes up once in a while, at a certain point it's damn near every mission. This isn't challenging, its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's the gameplay equivalent of a child that changes the rules mid-game because they hate losing.

When the game isn't arbitrarily screwing you over, it's extremely dull. Most enemy units just sit around and wait for you to kill them. It's a lot like Fire Emblem, where the maps are mostly just full of isolated pockets of enemies that never move.

I got this game hoping for something like Fire Emblem meets XCOM. Somehow, this game has the worst aspects of both, and the redeeming qualities of neither.
