AA-JFA Music Mod
Do you (kind of) like the music of Ace Attourney 2 (JFA) but SIMPLY LOVE the music from Ace Attourney 1 (AA)?

Then this little mod is for you!

It replaces court-related tracks of JFA with the corresponding ones of AA.

The tracks replaced are:
- Trial
- Objection
- Logic and Trick \ Trick and Magic
- Questioning Moderato
- Questioning Allegro
- Pressing Pursuit
- Pressing Pursuit Variation
- Courtroom Lobby
- Telling the Truth

Note: I haven't tested this fully, but so far, it seems to work just fine. Let me know if you experience problems. Enjoy! :-)

Using this method would there be a way to replace the bgm with custom soundtracks? Ace Attorney games have plenty of great song remixes and id love to have a way to mod these into the game.

Unfortunately, the method I used is currently not automated at all and involves quite some manual work for each track. I like the first game's music, so it was enough for me. I might pick this up at some point in the future, but in the meantime, all I can do is to leave some information here for anyone who wants to attempt this.

Yes, basically, it should be possible to use any music track, but more complicated. The process would be basically as follows:

  1. Decrypt the unity3d file containing the music track to replace. These are encrypted using symmetric encryption. It is probably not legal to share the encryption key here? But it can be found using a .NET disassembler or googling a bit for it (some modders who have been adding languages and thus editing the game's text files found it, for example). With the key, it is possible to decrypt and encrypt files using e.g. openssl.
  2. Decompress the decrypted file. I used a tool called "AssetBundleExtractor" for this.
  3. Replace the contained music track (shows as "*.resource"). This can be done with AssetBundleExtractor as well. Replacing this with another track from the game is easy enough, but to use an arbitrary audio track, one would have to convert it to the format used by the game, which I haven't tried. It seems to be FSB5, but I haven't looked more into this.
  4. Replace the metadata of the track: There is some audio clip metadata in the unity3d file, defining, among other things, the size and length of the audio track. This must be updated accordingly, or the track will not loop correctly in the game. This can once again be achieved using AssetBundleExtractor.
  5. Recompress the unity3d file, then re-encrypt it.

I'm trying to do the same mod for the last part of the trilogy. However I have no way to identify which track is which.
I decrypted and upacked the files, but how do you play them? Did you convert files to wav?

You wouldn't happen to still have the bms script for AAT, would you? I checked all over zenhax with a fine-toothed comb, but I hit a dead end at the weshare link used for decrypting the unity3d files because the upload had expired.

Do you have discord ? I need help for replaces the song, I put the bgm on folder and click on apply patch but the music have not change :/
