Long and boring intro
What's the matter with the 10 mn+ intro with endless boring talks about toilets at night and super long pause?

Is it to discourage customers? Congrats, you won!

It's to create a context I guess. Ye, it's somewhat longer than it has to be, but it's still well done.
Spoiler alert: toilets are gonna be back and very helpful at some point xD

I know there is a good game behind this too long intro... I guess watching it when you only had 20 mn for a gaming session was too much for me :-)

Ugh, came here to complain about exactly this. I wanted to play a game, not participate in a really slow moving telle-novella.

This intro must be the worst intro i ever saw in my 25 years of gaming. Completely discourages you from continuing to play the game.

40 minutes in and the game has barely even started. The voice acting and dialogue is beyond cringe worthy and among the worst I have ever heard. Does the dev have a giant hate boner for cops?

I feel like it really sets the pace and feel of the game. I can't say I enjoyed it, but I appreciate the art of it.

Agree with this one, the intro is slow and has a number of long pauses where I was almost coming to expect a choice or something to appear.
When all you are looking at is a bland picture of 3 people while someone talks about made-up films for 5 minutes it gets really frustrating.
I didn't last through and eventually quit out, the intro gameplay looked fun but I never got to it.

After 26 mins of cutscenes and intro I uninstalled and got a refund. Really poor game design.

Totally agree. Skipping dialog lines like in the first part is totally important. These boring pauses, waiting for people to say what I already can imagine, it makes me wait for not well done animations and not telling anything important is boring. Don't want the movie, I want to read fast. :BErage:

Unfortunately almost every cutscene is long winded and boring. I guess it's to build the setting but none of it is engaging. I'm also not usually the type to skip reading things or missing parts of the story, no matter how trivial, but I couldn't take it for this game. Plus, if you leave focus of the window, the game will automatically pause so you can't even alt tab and do something else while listening to the conversations in the background.

Hey, I liked it. You can always skip any cutscene if you just want the contextless gameplay.

I agree that the long intro is a disservice for the game. Not that it is bad per se, it has some neat ideas. For example how the cops simply ignore what Sheriff Reed says without realizing it. That is good writing as it sets the mood in the department and Reeds character arc perfectly. Heck even Gale, who is the only person who seems to want to help her, shows quite the disrespect. It's just that the whole intro is too long for its own good and also the voice acting is... uh... you know... it's really... well... sigh... it's really not... not that good, I mean... you get it, right? Right? Uh... it gets better in the late game voice acting wise.

Would've been better to split it up with more gameplay sections. The first game was strong in story, but weaker in gameplay. This one, however, is strong in its gameplay, but weak in its story unfortunetaly. I remember AngryJoes livestream of this game, where he kept praising the gameplay as fun but was angered by the long cutscenes and the the voice acting. I didn't mind as much when I started, but still. It's a shame that it acts as a turn off for potential players, though I can understand why.
Agreed, I skipped several cut scenes in the first game, but... the sequel has dialogue that makes me cringe. Very glad there's an option to skip them lol. It's a shame because Jack Boyd's voice actor is great. The script writer needs more practice.

I'm sorry to say, but that intro made me press alt f4 and look for something else to play. :(

I don't want contextless gameplay though, I just don't want to sit through 10 minutes of some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I've never seen before rambling about made up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ movies and pausing for half a minute between saying everything. There was one scene where everyone is standing around being silent because some guy I don't know died, and if you skip it suddenly the mountain man is out of jail and running the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ police station! Who the everliving ♥♥♥♥ designed this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game and why do they hate their player base so much?
