A wise man once said, "DUDE, I just spent 84 minutes on this GODFORSAKEN boss fight. Why did it just END? Why couldn't I see the boss SUFFER as it faded away into the ETERNAL abyss we all slowly march towards? I DESERVE that much, I GAVE you $4.99."

I'm not your therapist, in fact, I'm probably the opposite of one with what I offer you. Anyhoo - sure! All bosses now have some form of death animation. Now go feel accomplished, sport. Pop off. Slay. 💅🌟

Moisten your eyes!

A second wise man, no relation, once said, "DUDE, why do I have to fight The Beholder EVERY time I battle Art? What is WRONG with you? Seriously, I'm earnestly asking. How do you sleep at night?"

Still not your therapist, nor are you mine - keep that Gatlin-related trauma to yourself. Anyhoo - OK! Blot's childhood friend found eyedrops. If you can find him and collect the eyedrops, you can easily cast off The Beholder. The average monthly 0 players of Gatlin' PLEASE cry out in joy! 👏👏👏

A new level modifier - One Life!

I nerfed the Beholder. I nerfed Art. Do you still want a challenge? This level modifier, with an accompanying achievement, gives you the gift of playing through the entire main game with one life. If you die, you start over at the first level. How generous! How replayable!

A new level modifier - John Gatlin!

Continuing my streak of philanthropy, have another challenge. In the "John Gatlin" level modifier, you only get standard ammo and must run the entire main game for achievement or self-loathing purposes. No blitz, no pogos, and no suction. As a silver lining, I've replaced all boulders with poppable balloons. How quaint! I am nothing if not benevolent.

Painstakingly Godawful Achievements!

Three new achievements. One for finding the eyedrops and two for beating the game with the new level modifiers. You want to earn 100% of Gatlin's achievements? Nah.

Added eyedrops (oh, and I guess Blot's childhood friend) to a non-specified level

Art no longer randomly waits for you to attack her before moving
Optimized code logic for David, The Protector, The Beholder, Art, and Credits
Optimized code logic for the "Note" and "Camera" enemies
Remapped controller navigation for the pause menu to be more intuitive
Upgraded to a newer engine version
Upgraded lighting tech to a non-experimental version
Removed unused libraries to improve performance

More content, more QoL, less throwing your keyboard against the wall. Guaranteed.

Introducing... Easy Mode!

We get it, Gatlin' is a hard game - that's intended, not a bug. However, our Chief Balance Officer (me) and Head Intern (also me) have been bickering back and forth for nearly three years now about making the game easier.

Long story short, the Head Intern decked the CBO and stole his computer. We have Easy Mode now.

While Easy Mode is enabled:

Blot can take two additional hits before dying horribly. That's right, his suffering is prolonged and even worse - you horrible, horrible, person.
Boss achievements cannot be earned

A new level modifier - Tumbleweed!

It's goofy, it's silly - it's... actually quite difficult. Pair this with Easy Mode for a unique experience.

Entirely Organic Achievements!

Continuing the streak of more achievements, here ya go - three new ones. Something about a vacuum, a boss-related redacted one, and... WHAT!? BLOT WITH A FACE!?! WHAT SORT OF HERESY IS THIS!? SOMEBODY CALL THE CBO - oh wait...

Hovering over a toggle in the settings menu now displays a tip about what it does
Added death FX for Blot

The screen now shakes whenever Blot dies or is hurt (only occurs when the "Screen Shake" setting is enabled)

Reworded the tutorial's hint about pausing to indicate that pressing "ESC/Start/Etc." also shows settings

Fixes + Performance

The "Timed" level modifier now displays the initial amount of time given instead of starting one second later
The "Level Modifiers" button in the lobby now properly displays a modifier's name instead of the variable name
Settings now additionally save when closing the pause menu instead of solely when the game is closed
The "Dumb Ways to Die" achievement can no longer be earned by having an enemy walk over a landmine
Landmines can no longer visually be defused
Fixed the picture frame's hitbox in all boss fights
Fixed the range of the lighting of the lava in Level 6
Fixed the z-layer of Apprencii's easel's text in Level 18
Splash SFX are now played locally instead of globally
Explosion SFX are now played locally instead of globally
Polished the collision hitboxes of Blot's corpse
Moved bullethole décor to the proper z-layer to prevent weird clipping
Optimized the code for level modifiers
Optimized the code for the pause/settings menu

Gatlin' - The Dusty Patch (V1.0.5)

A completionist's wet dream. Achieving 100% has never been more possible. Literally.

Highlights:

Lowered the threshold of kills needed for a large amount of achievements
The "Free Fallin'" achievement is now actually possible to earn

Changes:

Lowered the number of Note kills required for the "Symphonic" achievement from 1,827 to 44
Lowered the number of Knight kills required for the "Midknight Crisis" achievement from 1,500 to 250
Lowered the number of Photo kills required for the "Right to Privacy" achievement from 2,000 to 404
Lowered the number of targets required for the "Target Practice" achievement from 1,000,000 to 1,000
Lowered the number of deaths required for the "Live, Die, Repeat" achievement from 10,000 to 5,000
Adjusted the "Intro" level to make it more feasible to jump off the map (what are these patch notes??)
Changed the credit text on the main menu to credit dotcopycat for the sake of being succinct
Removed a legacy, defunct, and unused save system
