This has in my opinion at least much better diplomacy. It has quite a few more factors taken into consideration in combat engagements. And the logistics plus resources constraints make for an interesting challenge.
With OW the really interesting game design innovation you get is the use of orders each turn to get stuff done, whether that's improve cities or move your armies. This provides an interesting set of choices for the player in a never ending balance act of guns and butter.
P.S. If I didn't have this title and I was interested in it I'd probably hold off and buy whatever bundle deal comes out when the Imperiums DLC releases:

Nice, haven't heard of this one. Which isn't surprising seeing as this was made by Kube Games while Aggressors: Ancient Rome was made by Kubat Software. Even though Imperiums' page says Aggressors was their (?) previous title.
Curious about the move. My impression was that Slitherine helps with strategy games' marketing and promotion. Maybe that's not the case. Maybe there's more to that.
But my experience with Slitherine games has been while it's nice they work a niche of the market place helping to get strategy titles made that might otherwise go undeveloped, from a marketing stand point they're laughably bad at that.
Add to that they're exceptionally thin skinned about pretty much everything and I could see moving on from that partnership the first chance I got.
After all, If I can keep the lights on under my own financing I get to keep 100% of the profits.
edit: but there is then the slice Valve is going to take of course ;)
