Swapping units between retinues
Does anyone know for sure, will it be implemented in the release?
I know it wasn't before, very desirable feature. Logical too.

No word but I wouldn't expect this, not when CA's been emphasizing the importance of keeping your generals around in both campaign modes -- the idea being that the troops were recruited by and thus loyal to the general, not to you -- and even released a 'How to Steal Characters' video yesterday.

Additionally, certain unit types can only be recruited by certain classes of generals. To me, this strongly suggests that you won't be able to move units between retinues.

Nope, and logically makes sense to block it with the current mechanics.

No.

Three Kingdoms armies were loyal to individuals, not to faction / state. Moving units between retinues make no sense for this setting.

It make a lot of sense. I command all those generals, so their soldiers are ultimately under my command. I would prefer that there are locks so that generals don't receive units they can't possibly have, but tell me, wouldn't it be logical and good for playthrough to pass Level 10 Ji Militia to some general rather than disband?

If you disband an army, you can raise that army again under the same general when they're needed by paying their recruitment cost. They'll keep their experience and such, if I recall. I've also heard that if a general dies, you can then pass their retinue to another general.

Read up on the history of Three Kingdoms. You can think of it as a feudal system, or rather like Roman legionaries that would follow their leader even if he rebels against the Rome due to personal loyalty. It is actually one of the reasons for the wars of the Three Kingdoms.

You can also retrain your units if you do not want to disband. You can retrain your Ji Militia to the top tier Protectors of Heaven if you want and carry over the experience. If that is what's bothering you (a valid reason) you need not worry at all.

Retraining sounds good. I haven't seen in any of the streams but it's excellent if such option is there.

Not true at all. The retinue mechanic is a contrivance by CA. There are numerous accounts in the novel of X general being sent off with 10k or 5k troops of cavalry, infantry, etc. to do X task.

I'm fine with the system, but it certainly isn't based on anything other than CA deciding that this was a interesting mechanic.
