The UE4-Draugen Game has crashed and will close
Hello!

The game freezes when you try to start a New Game.

Text error:

LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknow] [Line: 200]
Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error:
0x887A0006 - 'HUNG')

My system: Windows 10 64-bit 1809, i5 3570, HD 7850 2GB, 8GB RAM, Driver: 19.5.2

Why won't the game start? :steamsad: :steamsad: :steamsad:
I've tried running in both full screen and window mode without a frame.

We've now patched the game on both Steam and GOG, so if the game was crashing for you before, this should hopefully fix that!

Yep, I've received this exact message as well.

Hi everyone, sorry to hear the game is crashing for you.

Please try to upgrade to the latest version of your graphics driver first to see if that helps.

If you're comfortable going into the Windows registry, you can try increasing the gpu timeouts for the driver as explained in this step-by-step guide:

Done already. Not help. (19.3.1 -> 19.5.2)

I'm sorry, I would prefer a formal and normal solution to this problem.

Hi mphuZ,

Would you mind sending a copy of your crash dump to support@redthreadgames.com? You should be able to find the relevant files in "\AppData\Local\Draugen\Saved\Crashes\".

I actually did that and had zero changes. Still the same loading screen and then crash, unfortunately.

Test build didn't help me.. :steamsad:
Also, where to enable DX12 support?
Red Thread Games  [developer] 1 Jun, 2019 @ 10:59am
We will continue to try and reproduce and debug this issue, starting Monday morning (after our programmers have had a couple of days to recover from launching the game). In the meantime, thanks to everyone who’s helped us with crash reports and logs.

In regards to DX12, the Unreal Engine has some compatibility and/or stability issues that may have been resolved with the latest UE update. We are planning to patch the game as soon as we’re confident there are no more issues. In the meantime, we’ve chosen to stick with DX11. You may be able to manually enable DX12 support (run the executable with “-DX12”) but you may also experience the same crashes we’ve experienced. We’re therefore not recommending this. It’s also doubtful that the game will look much different, given that it’s optimised for DX11. But please let us know if you’re able to run it with DX12!

All right, we'll wait. I hope you will work with AMD on this issue.
I already sent the report to AMD. Also I on their forum created topic about this problem - support, who can! https://community.amd.com/thread/239942

I really love previous games from the devs and wanted to have a great weekend evening with Draugen. But nope, the same issue with GOG release. Hope this problem will be fixed soon
Red Thread Games  [developer] 3 Jun, 2019 @ 7:36am
Hi all, we have now been able to reproduce the crash bug, using an old(er) AMD card, and our engineers (both of them!) are hard at work trying to solve the problem.

We don't know exactly how long this fix will take — we don't yet know what causes it — but we hope to patch later this week, both on Steam and GOG.

We're sorry for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience; hopefully, by this weekend, you'll all be able to play and enjoy Draugen!

Another update regarding the AMD crash bugs:

The latest version of Unreal fixes the problem — it was related to the engine, not specifically the game — and we will be uploading a new build to Steam this week that should work for "everyone" (fingers crossed).

To begin with, however, we'll post this build to a special branch, to avoid creating new issues for players who have not experienced this crash. We'll be back with instructions about how to switch builds when it happens.

Thanks again for your patience!
