I just don't know: how do I get the "all green" code from the human, and how do I charge the battery? Do I need to charge it?

Can this be done at any time? I swear I'm getting to the mine shaft from the store room within 40 seconds but I might be missing something. Is there any requirements like having to hug the right wall in the storage room to getting all the way to the battery in the maintenance shaft?...

I got slimed by the snails, both of them. I got eaten by all three creatures. I rocked the snailboat right off the cliff before and after taking the battery. What am I missing?
