Wanted to get at least 50-60 hours into the game before reviewing. I am at 60.6 at the time of this review. Highly recommend this for the right person. If you gravitate toward survival, builder, expansion & space this is very much up your alley. On the surface, the concept is simple. As you peel back the layers things you think were not well thought out or possibly bugs are just your inexperience with the game. 99% of the people posting about game bugs, once you see what the very active devs suggest & do to resolve them you realize it wasn't a bug at all. Its the standard, upgrade your drivers, don't crazily overclock your system, mods break ♥♥♥♥ and so on. If you are crashing to desktop, its 99% your fault for something you have done, its not the game. I have 60 hrs in the release and another 50+ in the prologue. Not a single crash over 2 different ASUS ROG laptops. If it is something to do with the game, as I said, the devs ask for logs and get to the bottom of. it.

On to the the game... I suggest play on standard so you can get the achievements. Try the story line to get a feel for how it plays, then jump into Normal sandbox after that. Nothing is easy, but its reasonable and when you complete something there is a sense of accomplishment you don't often get in a simulator. One thing builds on another and it takes time to progress. You are extremely vulnerable in the start, but as you build redundant systems and save often you find ways to strengthen up and branch out. I got rocked by a meteor storm 5-6 hours in and thought "what a crappy game", all that work gone.. almost quit. Reloaded a save to back it up a few hours before the storm, didn't put all my resources in the same place and when the storm hit the 2nd time (it appears to be random) I had a back up plan to survive. Today I have multiple bases, backed up very well and I might be half way thought the technology trees... There is so much more to do, and explore. Make sure you get the ATV early on and explore other derelict bases, its how you unlock the tech you need to progress.

I will add more at the 100 hour level, because I am still learning.

Unfinished shovelware

I really wanted to play this, but unfortunately I had to refund it because it kept crashing my GPU! My GPU drivers are up-to-date, by the way. I contacted their support email and tried what they said to no avail. My PC is a few years old but I can play many modern titles at 60fps high settings v-sync with no issues. It MUST be something to do with this game. From the brief amount of time I managed to play, I deduced that this game is highly unoptimised: the performance is pretty atrocious and it has stutters and frame rate drops even at modest settings.

My specs: Ryzen 2600X, Vega 56, 16GB RAM

I followed this game through alpha footage, to open beta.
It has work to be done, the game play has progressed immensely.
I thoroughly enjoy the lore the devs created, speaking about the devs. They have been open and honest each step of the way. You can tell that they have love and passion for this project. I can't recommend this game enough.
