many puzzles require a lot of back tracking and walking speed is so slow! puzzles were ok but i just found it tedious having to walk about

gave up when a bug with camelus prevented further progress

I am a huge fan of Cyan's early games, but cannot recommend this one. I'll list what I liked and what I didn't.

PROS:
1. Beautiful world, but that's expected in these types of games.
2. Puzzles are relatively self-contained, preventing a situation like Obduction in which solutions to puzzles often took place in other realms, forcing the player to have to stumble upon whatever changed to advance the story.
3. Interesting ending

CONS:
1. Near gamebreaking mouse bug. The game would switch between mouse look and the Windows mouse cursor, forcing me to restore a save to get look capability back. This is infuriating on a game that is heavily reliant on the mouse.
2. Tedium. You would think Cyan would learn their lesson after that one notorious puzzle in Obduction. This game had areas in which there was very little puzzle solving and a ton of searching. The problems with mouse look made this a chore. And there is absolutely no way I would have finished the incredibly long sequence at the end of Curievale without a detailed walkthrough. Even with a walkthrough, I found it painful.
3. The Adjunct is an interesting concept, but very limiting. It reminds me of 'The Witness' and how that game had a really interesting world but its gaming was a seemingly endless series of boring line puzzles.

The problems with this game added up and left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I wasn't even that far into the game before I stopped caring about solving puzzles and just wanted to reach the ending. That is not exactly a ringing endorsement for this title. I was always sad to reach the end of games like MYST and Riven. Luckily, I got this one on sale because a large chunk of the hours I spent playing Firmament were spent loading saves to deal with mouse look issues.
