Your problem is you've let go of the handle before you were there and that's what it does it slingshots you back where you started. The fact that you lose your hands is a problem though. It never happened to me and I do it all the time carrying stuff across.

i went long past where it should have stopped

Depending on what your controllers are, IF... you can remove the batteries and re-initialize your controllers it will work.. at least it does with G2's. My batteries often ran out and the result is lost of hands in the game, same thing happens if you drop your controller and the batteries come out. All I have to do is replace the batteries press the button and the hand re appears. I believe it will work with all replaceable battery controllers.Might not work with the index hough
