Doubt about good ending

I didn't follow Sophie, but I don't know how to give the pistol back do Keith. Someone can help me?

Not sure if you've found the answer yet, but you have to pick up the gun from the shower room BEFORE following Keith downstairs to tell him about Ed. The conversation with Keith is the same until the very last moment where you automatically give back the gun.
