Although I'm not as much a fan of this series as I used to be when I was younger, I'm happy to revisit these games. They are perfect games of their time and I would encourage anyone new to this series to give it a go.

If you're a parent then teach your kids to play this too. Its necessarily a game for kids but its been a series of which I enjoyed when I was a teenager and still enjoyed growing up. All the games are challenging and take time to learn and master. Finding upgrades, useful items and learning how to fight the bosses or what weapons they are weak to.

The story does take a more grim tone than the original series especially since this takes place in the future of essentially the same timeline as the original but not much is known as to what happened to the original Megaman and the rest of the cast. X is Megaman, Zero's origin is unknown and given only the fourth game in this series do we learn about him more.

Now those who remember me probably may or may not remember my old tangents about my disagreements with both how Capcom and Inafune has treated this series over ten years ago and Capcom still isn't making anymore sequels to the X series despite the long years of fans demanding since the series ended on an awful note. It is important to remember those times and educate the history of this series development and hopefully if any would be devs read this may you never make the same mistakes as Capcom and the Director Inafune committed which has led to the downfall of the franchise and the uncertainty that plagues it since there are still people who wish for more games for if nothing more to see more of the story since it literally engaged us very well with the first five games and left many dissatisfied with the last three.

While Inafune is not part of Capcom anymore it should be a given to remember that he despite doing good work on this series was never a saint. He has turned X into an annoying pacifist and written him with a character flaw that never resolves. Think about the fact that X is a beloved character despite this.
Inafune has done more to make Zero the more likable and popular character and while this isn't wrong its the fact he's been spiteful towards Capcom's decisions back in the 90's when his original character design for X would not be accepted as they wanted X to carry the familiar classic Megaman design. This is evident by not only how X never grows out of his annoying pacifist views but also the effect of MMX6's release during Megaman Zero's development time as it was revealed Inafune wanted to make Zero the main protagonist and X evil. While many may say X6 was a bad game you should actually thank its existence since it forced Inafune to change his story dramatically and preserve X's character as a hero.

Then we must consider Inafune's incompetence when he made Mighty Number .9 after killing off Zero in the last game he made there I suppose as a means to say Capcom can't make anymore games with this character since he's no longer part of the company. This is a director and developer who has lost all credibility and respect for many years after.

I write this in the review for people to remember this and newcomers to understand this legacy.

I strongly recommend for anyone who is interested in these games to play them as they are amazing and the fact it even last as long as 8 games plus many spin offs is a miracle. Not many games make a legacy for themselves this long.

Keyboard controls are LOCKED and cannot be remapped outside of an extremely limited set! If you are playing with a keyboard I do not recommend this game. Movement keys are locked to arrow keys and all action buttons are locked between asdzxc. Furthermore, even if that is not a problem for you and you remap the keys in the game... the config is not saved to your files. You will need to remap your controls every time you load up any individual game! Very poor design, I requested a return, I am much better off playing this game through other venues.

why would magma dragoon drop the sky lagoon. he could of asked x or zero for a fight. unless he is a tsundere, then i guess mass murder is fine???
