We were all wrong about his game. I too was a human with working eyes and ears who watched the trailer and had the completely understandable reaction of instantly hating this game, but I promise the trailer does this game so dirty. Yes the game is unpolished because it was rushed out the door, yes the driving is stiff and kinda slow at the start of the game, no it is not like saints 3+, but it does feel A LOT like S2 with a fresh face lift and a goofier physics engine.

There was a lot of concern online when people saw the crew was a corny Amazon TV like diverse cast with the black nerd, girl mechanic, and asian bi frat bro, but I assure you that just like in real life, this is such a small part of their personality AND people seem to forget that is what the Saints have literally always been. It's not a game about kids and their modern problems. it's a game about 4 low tier losers that decide to star working for themselves by any means necessary.

The game sets the mood instantly with the over the top cartoon violence, the dedicated drift button that works on all vehicles, and incredible voice acting and quotable lines that reminds me of the old game. Give it a chance because it's honestly quite fun. The interactions with the team, killer sound track and consistent stylized art direction makes you forget that this game was forced out the door before having the studio Ol' Yeller'd immediately afterwards.

In 2024 this is a good Saint's Row game. Still a bit buggy, but enjoyable. Buy during a sale with DLC

Is it a good game? Debatable. It would have been a good game a decade ago - if this had come out in place of SRIV, I'd probably have liked this more than that one. Sure, the gameplay feels like a blast from the past in a half-nostalgic and half-ohgodwhy way and the writing feels like you have to be 14 years old to properly appreciate it, but I still had fun with it. The customization's great, and it's the best Saints Row city since Stilwater. It's not the successor Saints Row 2 deserves, but you could do worse on a deep-ish sale. Probably. I honestly don't know if I should recommend this, but, you know what, sometimes you wanna pretend to be a kid again and just blast some cops. Whatever.

Also, turn off the enemy healthbars in the options, and customize your difficulty so both you and the enemies die faster. Trust me.

A solid game, slightly bugged. Story had it's higs and lows and humor is hit or miss. It made me chuckle a few times just like it made me roll my eyes.
Definitely the worst of Saints Row games, but at the same time still a fun adventure. As long as you are not expecting another SR2.

Honestly, I think most of the hate of this game is because it's cool online to hate it.

It's not perfect but I'm 9 hours in at this point and I'm really enjoying it, I didn't think I would. It feels very much like Saints Row 1 & 2. Most people I've spoken to that hate this game haven't even played SR 1 & 2, so they're basing it off their experience with the newer over the top games, or because their favourite YouTuber said it's crap so they feel obliged to agree.

However with that being said.... some decisions they made are pretty cringe, like the lead characters being hipsters. One of them literally wears a bow-tie and asks you to go LARPing with them. I take Saints Row lightly and with its comedic values but the characters are not believable at all.

Driving is unfortunately a weak point in this game. ALL the cars feel restricted even the super cars and jets. Easy fix for them to undo but I doubt they will.

But overall, I'm really enjoying it. BUT if any devs happen to see this.... please release a Steam Deck patch. Would love to play this on the go.
