Also switching btw fullscreen and windowed is ridden with bugs like the mouse pos being incorrectly interpreted

Do you mind sharing some specs such as graphic card and OS please?

This might come from your iGPU if you have an Intel CPU. In that case you need to use the dedicated GPU (if you have one) or to update the driver of the iGPU. There's a topic dedicated to multi GPU:
