Majesty Kingdom and Driftland are like Cousins or something?
I don't know why no one has connected these two dots.

Driftland is like the brother or sister of Majesty Kingdom.

I love games where you're not directly telling the heros what to do, you're simply putting bounties and running things like you're a Wizard or Lord from the Tower.

I also play Age of Wonders and I've often wondered if there is a way for Age of Wonders to be played like Driftland or Majesty where you're simply posting bounties and motivating your units to go out and do missions on their own and focusing on providing the infrastructure for them.

There is also a Parallel game I played called Swords and Potions where you run a Magic Shop and you're able to eventually create Legendary and Fantastic level Swords and Potions which enable the heros to take on Diablo level demons and monsters.

I hope one day the Devs from Majesty, Driftland, and other Infrastructure type games come together to realize that this is it's own genre.

Civ and Age of Wonders are fun, but sometimes you don't want to have to Micromanage the battles and there's really no need.

I think with AI eventually we'll see more and more games like Majesty and Driftland where we trust AI where each hero type unit has it's own 'personality.' I hope the company that made Driftland has made good profit and continues.

I've never encountered the resources harvesting idea that the Dark Elves have. It's a really unique idea, using Wizards to harvest all of the resources. The Age of Wonders devs could use this idea, instead of all of the races harvesting resources the same way, the Driftland devs have really created a Unique but mostly fair and balanced shortcut for purely magic focused players to get resources fast.

For so many reasons Driftland is a work of art unique to the gaming community and the devs should understand that they've built something fundamentally different that the other devs in the gaming community need to take note of and eventually build into their games as well.

The magic harvesting, the idea of moving islands around, there are so many aspects of this game that are unique and could be incorporated into other games.

I won't pretend to understand how the game industry works, but I do know that Games like Dungeons, Civ, Age of Wonders, Majesty, there are so many games that would benefit from incorporated ALL of driftland into their game.

Imagine a Civ game where you're playing on a driftland island map,

Imagine an Age of Wonders game where the map is driftland islands.

The only other game I know of who have been able to tackle mobile islands is Bioshock Infinity and that game is an EFFING work of ART as well.

I just finished the entire campaign and I have to applaud the Driftland devs on what they've done. Driftland is fundamentally unique and has many ideas, concepts, and perhaps code that absolutely need to implemented into the greater gaming community.

These ideas and concepts could significantly impact the greater gaming community in this genre. Amazing!

What? Majesty is probably the most common game I see Driftland compared to.

For the moving islands, Aloft centers around that too (though it is a FPS survival game rather). Only a demo so far though, but set to release in jan 2025

No,

Driftland uses some mechanics from Majesty (undirect control of heroes, magic), but these are different types of game - Majesty is unique RTS without direct control and Driftland is real time 4X

Those 2 mechanics, are litterally the main selling points of those games, and what you would point out to try and convince someone to try/buy either of Driftlands of Majesty.

If on the other hand you try and sell Driftslands as just a 4X, it wont be able to hold a candle to more traditional 4X's like civilisation, and likewise Majesty Kingdoms wont hold a candle to the like of C&C or Starcraft
