Really unfair this games getting a remaster
sonic team is extremely lazy and just keeps going for the low hanging fruit; they keep ignoring unleashed - the most graphically and technically demanding sonic game for garbage like colors - a crap wii game & remastering an already remastered game on steam . generations doesn’t need a remaster , this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

At least Generations was actually a good game, but I do agree with you on one thing - it didn't need a remaster as it still holds up today. Maybe a port for the PS4/5 and Switch since you can't play it on those systems, but the 360 version works fine on a Series X/S console at 60FPS, and the PC version we already have now is great the way it is.

While I'm not the biggest fan of Colours either, that game did need a remaster or at least a port more than Generations did as that was originally a Wii exclusive. It's just too bad with the way the port turned out. Colours deserved better than it got.

They want to bank off the Sonic 3 Movie which includes Shadow so everyone gets more Shadow content (last game he was an actual character was 2006) and they get to ride the movie hype.

Its also a "safe" option considering how popular/liked generation is and they've got 3 "new" consoles to sell it on. Its like why Ubisoft wants to remaster Assassin's Creed 4 instead of 1 or 2 because 4 was very successful and more likely to sell again despite the original still holding up well today.

Sonic Unleashed honestly deserves a remaster since it's the game that started it all.

Doesn't matter to Sega, they know Uleashed and Adventure are the most wanted picks but they refuse to do so and for Unleashed specifically either they're too fearful of the constant werehog hate that they don't bother or they "physically" lost the ability to do it.
I'm very confused why this is getting a remaster and not Sonic Heroes, Knuckles Chaotix, Shadow The Hedgehog, Sonic & The Black Knight, Sonic & The Secret Rings, Sonic Riders, Sonic 06, Sonic Unleashed, etc.... or really ANY Sonic game that isn't readily available.

i think they just physically lost the ability to do it. Unleashed was such a spectacle, maybe the coding and all of that is too hard, or the hedgehog engine 1 is lost i dont know...

Pretty sure if they wanted to they can just reverse engineer the final game, a lot of games with missing source code get remastered that way.
They should've just dropped another port of Sonic 3 & Knuckles and include Shadow, call it a day.

As much as I want a proper Unleashed port or re-release we ultimately do have the option of using xenia canary for a way to play it on PC but secret rings and black knight need normal controller/keyboard controls. Although for Unleashed I don't know if they have fixed the hd resolution bugs such as him missing werehog fur and other missing gfx when using the 720p fix
For a decade now all Sega had to do was add the second half of the levels and add more from Sonic 1-3, so now instead they adding the edge hog brilliant Sega...
forget Tails Knuckles and Chaotix are even a thing
(guess it's easier to just reskin Sonic)
2 steps forward 230 steps back....

Plus whatever the new one is going to be won't have the decade worth of mods...
Ultrawide
Super Peelout, Double Jump, SA2 bounce
Physics Tweaks
Full customization.

Bet there won't even be the elemental shields and other stuff already in the game,
will just be replaced with Drop Dash only like all new Sonic games.....

Chaotix should been added to at least 1 of the 10 collections by now
and they wouldn't even have to do much for Heroes all they have to do is update da graffics and unnerf flying and glider characters

You do realise you can map motion controls to buttons on PC right?!?
and those 2 are much easier to play on PC then 360 games.
360 arcade games have a hard time running on PC.

Not really, modern hardware can easily brute force the framerate these days and they managed to get the Canary version of Xenia that uses Vulkan to run Unleashed with no crashes. The normal version of Xenia could already run Unleashed at 60 fps but had frequent crashes but the PS3 version on PC definitely required a monster pc to run smooth but rarely crashed.

You make it sound like Frame rate is the only problem with 360 emulation.

Tell that to Guardian Heroes yet ANOTHER Sega game trapped on 360
(very relevant to this discussion)
it's a 2.5d arcade game that should easily run but all newer versions the audio cuts out after 5 seconds you have to use a specific older version to even get something a s basic as sound.

(360 emulators don't even have basic video options or controller rebinding let alone not having more advanced stuff like save states)
STILL don't even know if games are running at 1080p or 720p upscaled just like on that broken box over a decade ago...
the 360 emulator is the most finicky and basic emulator i've seen no chance to fiddle with any options to try and get things to run better.

Compatibility is definitely an issue and some games just won't work with them which is why the Xenia Canary "breakthrough" was such as big deal for Sonic Unleashed.

The most popular ps2 emulator took over a decade but finally in 2022 was able to claim that every ps2 game properly starts up and runs on the emulator although 1% could still have game blocking issues such as a progression blocking bug but they're also counting online games such as everquest which obviously can't be actually played after the main menu.
That's the thing Guardian Heroes did work but they broke it in newer versions and never fixed it has nothing to do with specs.

PS2 on PC a decade ago had 10 more fold the features..
(including basic controller rebinding and resolution changing plus had widescreen fixes for 99% of the games back then)

All they added in recent years was stuff like High Res texture loading and like you mentioned higher compatibility, the must have and basic features were already there for years.
(haven't tried PS3 but i am sure that has more basic features on PC)

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. With Amy, there's the question of "Why doesn't she have a hammer?", with Tails and Knuckles "THEY CAN'T FLY WTF!?!"

Shadow can play just like Sonic without any issue
Shadow has a gun tho.

Sonic ain't got that.
