(please avoid spoilers) Are of the secrets chapter locked?
I started playing two years ago, but with the time that's passed I think I should just restart. I recall my friend telling me that there's hidden things in this game; are any of the hidden things locked to certain chapters? Like "you must find this before [x] chapter"?

If that's the case, are there any spoiler-free guides on what the point of no return chapters are?

Nothing is permanently missable other than one small stat-boosting item, which isn't going to make much of a difference if you miss it. There are a few things that are temporarily missable--that is, you might miss them early on, but by late/end game you can get them. It's pretty hard to explain those without giving some spoilers, though. I'll do my best below:

-You need to get the taser before you finish the Iron Flamingo, otherwise it'll be a while before you can get it.
-There is a dungeon in Legato that you have to beat before you finish the Tetsuya Kawaii building, otherwise you won't be able to get in for a while.

And for the missable item, I can't think of a way to respond without a spoiler:

You have to get the Buddy Bee Honey before returning home after beating the Queen Bee. But, you have to not use it.
