Way too RNG based. The encounters are nonsensical, but you can learn the outcomes, so fair enough. Except for the ones, that have to end badly. Those are very common, and can just screw you completely. If you based your production on reproduction and the bioreactor, it suddenly having half the output is not survivable. There are several like that, and given how planning for every eventuality is not possible, your losses are very often because of bad luck. So while a win is a testament to your skill, a loss is not a testament to your lack of one.
