Not sure what your issue is. You need to post more details. A screen shot of the error may help. Your hardware specifications. Available storage on the drive where you have the game installed.

When does the error appear, when you start the game or at some other time?

The only help I can offer is for you without more information is to verify your game files, to see if that resolves your issue.

Also worth checking that Windows is up to date and your GPU or any other drivers are up to date.

Have you managed to play the game at all so far?
Do you have a Racenet account yet? As this is required for game saves, as this game saves online.
The files on your PC for game saves is, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\4338637\690790
but you might have to change the drive letter to where you have your Steam games installed. You will need free space on that drive and the folder will need to be set to have read and write access.

If you play career or the dailies etc. the game automatically saves at various points. A stable internet connection to the Racenet servers is a requirement every time this happens. If the game detects a difference between the local save and the Racenet data your progress will be reset. The game shows communicating with Racenet each time this happens.

The number after user data, will be different for each user, so locate you user data folder and search for 690790. I have a local game save folder which is empty the remote one has various files inside.

You don't need a racenet account to save progress. That is handled through Steam so racenet will just link up with it. You DO need to be connected so that it can access racenet, but it never goes through a security check or anything. Just grabs cloud saves of your stuff and uses your steam account. Sometimes I get my progress reset because racenet and steam go out of synch, usually after a crash, but otherwise...I have been playing the game for a while and still don't have an account. Mainly because every time I try to create one, the server is unavailable or there's some kind of unknown error.

Hi, there was also such a problem, it was solved by cleaning the memory on the disk where Steam is installed. I had a clogged memory (only 3.31 MB is free) and it couldn't start, look, maybe you have the same

go to your game folder and make sure when u right click the game folder of Dirt 2.0 and go to properties. you give your pc user (the windows user you are on) permissions to have full access. i had this game for a long time, only did i change my hard drives and then it failed to save. almost two years i havent been able to play. you might have alot of ghost files thats corrupeted. dnt worry. the account credits and all that will save. your car setups will NOT be saved
